If you’re not living the best life possible, look no further than your subconscious mind.
It’s the most consequential partner in your life.
Fate or chance have very little to do with the card’s that life deals you.
That would be down to your subconscious. It is such a vital component in your life experiences and you can train it to get what you want. If you’re not sure how, here’s a little primer.
What is the subconscious mind?
Our subconscious is the creative part of our minds, the part involved in drawing to us the events and experiences of life.
And as if that wasn’t enough it holds the causes of your happiness, successes or failures. It stores your beliefs and your values and even your memories. Our subconscious contains every moment of our lives, which is an amazing feat in and of itself.
And through being more aware of our subconscious mind operating in our life it becomes easier to make sure it’s working for us and not against us.
I’m not suggesting that I have a magic formula to help you operate your subconscious, or it’s like waving a wand a la Harry Potter.
I can’t even tell you how it all works, but personally speaking I’m not bothered that I don’t know this. Experience tells me all I need to know. And there have been many times when seeing the results of my inner work definitely seems magical to me.
Doesn’t it seem magical to you that your subconscious mind can turn your ideas and feelings into objects, experiences and people in your world?
The subconscious mind in operation
How does it work, this subconscious mind of ours?
Once again, I have no clue!
I simply know that it works because I have experienced it too often to dismiss it out of hand.
Truth be told I can’t remember how electricity works either, though I vaguely remember being taught about it in school. I just know that if I want a light, I flip a switch on the wall. If I want to make tea I flip the switch on my kettle and voila water boils.
If I want to operate the laws of consciousness I know that as I bring my conscious and subconscious mind together they work to produce the next aspect of life I desire to experience. They work together to bring me the things I desire.
Something to bear in mind
Your subconscious can work as easily against you as for you. Not that it works against you on purpose. It simply follows what it considers to be your directions because of your constant focus on one idea or another or by your persistent feelings, be they positive or negative.
Every thought, every feeling we continuously occupy, is taken as a request by your subconscious self to produce a physical equivalent. And for the most part we have no clue this is happening.
How great that we can change these orders by checking what we’re receiving in our world and then choosing new thoughts and feelings that will draw something we would prefer towards us.
What if?
What if you took a more active part in the making of your life and learned how to redirect your consciousness towards the life you’ve always wanted?
What if you really do desire life to be different? That intention can be all that it takes because you can reprogram your subconscious mind. It is doable.
But remember it’s not what we can do in life – it’s what we will do.
And with a little resolve and determination you can leverage the power within you to take you out of the status quo that you’ve accepted up until now.
Who are you and what do you want?
It’s a strange question I know. but many of us pay little attention to who we are and what we want.
Oh we can tell you what we don’t want quickly enough. We can even tell you who we think we are, but we’re often wrong about that!
If you’re not totally sure who you are, answer these questions.
What do you believe?.
What are you constantly thinking about?
Are you mostly happy or moody?
Are you a worrier?
Do you work hard but recognize you are somewhat disorganized? My hand is up here!
Do you direct your thinking or are your thoughts all over the place, generally focusing on the latest thing you heard or read?
Now look at your life, is it full of things that make you happy or things that worry you?
Do you experience more of what you want or more of what you don’t want?
Do you know what you want next? Maybe not for your whole life but what is the next thing you’d like to experience?
If you’re wondering what this has to do with getting your subconscious to work for you, it’s simple. We don’t get what we want, we get who we are.
Once you become more than you were you will experience more than you had!
Set up happier experiences
Okay, how can you do this if life really sucks right now?
It’s not that difficult. Begin by stopping complaining. As humans we seem to be addicted to negativity.
Consider adopting gratitude as your main resting place.
Choosing gratitude and appreciation over criticism and complaints lights up the positive in our world, with the added bonus that it rewires the brain to pay attention to more of what we have and less of what we don’t.
Embracing a new perspective allows your subconscious to get to work on your behalf and believe me, life is never the same again.
Adopt empowering beliefs
The thing that holds us all back from what we want in life more than anything else is our disempowering, limited beliefs. They could be about any negative events in our past. And we get to change this.
What would doing this look like?
Well let’s say you’ve had negative relationship experiences in your past and your belief now is that since relationships haven’t worked out for you in the past it clearly means they’re unlikely to work well for you in your future. Nope. Not remotely true.
You can replace this old, unhelpful belief by assuming and believing that you deserve a wonderful relationship with someone you love and who loves and values you in return.
After my husband passed away, my belief was that I’d had a brilliant wonderful relationship and that was it. All over.
I was lucky and counted my blessings. Until one day I realized that I could have another brilliant, loving relationship. Why not? Right?
Admittedly this was some years after I’d been widowed. But, no matter. Along came the one who today is a major reason I’m the happiest woman in the world.
Change your self-talk, your thoughts and feelings and your consciousness has a new request to get to work on.
Final thoughts on getting your subconscious mind to bring you what you want
I am someone who, many years ago, started this journey into understanding and making consciousness work for me.
And I read a number of great authors along the way.
Authors such as: Joseph Murphy, or James Allen, or Raymond Holliwell, or Ralph Waldo Trine, or Claude M. Bristol; even Napoleon Hill is worth a read.
My all time favorite has to be Neville Goddard, whose writings on consciousness made the whole topic come to life for me.
These authors and many more have guided me over the years as I practiced, failed, practiced again, and failed again.
And though I have been studying and practicing for such a long time, I have experienced operator error more times than I care to remember and continue to experience it to this day. Like you, I’m only human!
But, if you’re truly ready to shine as your bright self in the world and experience more of your dreams, try tapping into this amazing and special ability to use your subconscious mind.
Thank you for this helpful post, Elle. So many people are not aware of how much influence our subconscious has over us in our everyday lives. It is the programming from our past made up mostly of wounds, fears, and pain. When we bring this material into our awareness and start operating consciously, we have the power to change our lives. It has worked wonderfully for me! 🙂
I Debbie – isn’t it amazing. It’s too bad that we aren’t taught this at an earlier age, but better late than never and now we can learn and practice changing our life experiences to our heart’s content.
Elle, I found myself wanting to underline so many sentences in this article! I believe the mind is powerful indeed. The more we can make the subconscious conscious, the better off we will be. Thanks for outlining the process for us.
Hi Sandra – wow coming from a brilliant author such as yourself I am touched by what you say. Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share them. 🙂
