Within each and everyone of us is an inbuilt urge to live life to the fullest, to live a happy rich life, yet we still struggle with the consciousness of wealth. In fact for some, the age old belief that spirituality and prosperity are at odds with one another lingers on. Not to mention that we’re filled with all kinds of conflicting beliefs about wealth and prosperity and money in general.
All we need is to use a little financial alchemy – no not the kind that turns lead into gold, but the kind that turns our consciousness into abundance, into financial freedom.
I know that this can be a contentious subject, but I’m wading in with my wellie boots on anyway. Only at the shallow end though, because it’s such a huge topic that even she, who has much to say about everything, can’t cover it in one sitting. Not to mention my wellie boots only reach up to my knees.
Here’s a little list of some of the many views on money that I’ve run across. You might even recognize some, heck you might even have some of them.
- I’m not worthy
- It’s greedy
- I don’t have enough
- It makes you happy
- It’s selfish to want money
- It takes a lot of work
- It corrupts
- It makes the world go around
- Money is the root of all evil (technically, it should be the love of money, but no-one seems to say that)
- Money equals security
- It won’t make you happy
- It doesn’t grow on trees
- It brings you freedom
- It changes you
- I have to give something up to get it
- It complicates your life
- It might not buy happiness, but you get to choose your misery
And boy, whatever our beliefs about money are, do we ever want to defend, protect, justify and explain or prove the truth of our belief. But all these beliefs are just illusions, products of our thinking, none of them are actually real. Which is why financial alchemy can work.
I’m inclined to say that prosperity and abundance in all things is our natural state of being. At the very heart of us we are unconditioned consciousness…all, and only, spirit filled energy. Money is also energy, displaying itself as money in our world. You as John or Mary are energy, displayed as you in our world. Our beliefs are energy displayed all around us as our experiences, as the events we encounter as the people we meet ~ all displayed in our world.
Everything, including prosperity and abundance are simply projections of our own consciousness.
What about you? Do your beliefs about financial prosperity hurt you or help you? Do they help those closest to you, or even the world? If you could change them would you?
If you’re experiencing debt, take a look at your beliefs. If you believe that money is the root of all evil…then for you it will be. And that will be displayed in your world. Do you have any negative beliefs about prosperity, abundance, money? A few probably. We all have some sort of conditioning around money. And believe me when I tell you if you have bunches of varying beliefs you’re a member of a pretty big club. Take another look at the list above and that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface.
Believe that you can’t hold onto money, or there’s never enough, or your don’t deserve it, or it’s hard to come by and by george that’ll be your experience. Did you choose the beliefs you have about money and prosperity, or were they handed down to you? Are your beliefs serving you today? Are you okay with the idea of being wealthy and having oodles of money, or does it repel you?
Tons of questions we could ask ourselves about prosperity and abundance, especially when we use the word money.
Money in and of itself isn’t a magical elixir, nor is it evil incarnate. It doesn’t possess anything other than what it is, a medium for exchange. But our thoughts and feelings about money create our experiences with it. The labels we give it make a huge difference as to how we experience abundance or lack of it.
Being consciously abundant is not just about having money in the bank, it’s a state of mind that allows us to live our life without struggle or fear and to have faith that our needs are always met with ease and grace.
It isn’t that money is the answer to every problem, but it’s good for what it’s meant to be used for. A currency that society uses as a form of exchange, but what we think about it, what we feel about it aah that makes the difference as to how we use it or how much we have, or don’t have. You can be Scrooge and hoard it, or a philanthropist and contribute something useful to our world. Up to you.
And just in case you’re open to opulence, to being financially free, to experiencing prosperity in all it’s forms, perhaps even open to changing your mind about money, we’ve created an exciting freebie for you. It’s a visualization video that you can use every day to impress new concepts of wealth and abundance into your sub- conscious. Just click on the link in the sidebar on the blog and off you go.
Maybe you’re ready to experience the abundance that’s your birthright, if so our little video could be your financial alchemy, helping to plant new concepts of abundance into your consciousness through the repetition of daily viewing. Me, I’m a ninety day kind of gal. It seems to take ninety days before new ideas become a part of my being of my thinking. Maybe it’s more or less for you. You be the judge.
One last thing to remember:
It is good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good too, to check up once in a while and make sure you haven’t lost the things money can’t buy. – George Lorimer
Encourage one another.

Another great article – it’s as if we are sitting and chatting over a nice cup of tea – your words flow so easily to me . . .
We ARE meant to live a totally abundant life. We ARE meant to enjoy abundance of all kinds. As you state, all we have to do is claim and occupy the state of consciousness that expresses our desire regarding money. You are spot on, with your view that money in and of itself is neither good nor evil. Our own individual beliefs are what give any type of power or connotation to money.
Wow, thank you.
Write on, Elle !
Yes and yes again Joseph. Basically we are already abundant beings in every shape and form…it’s just that we forgot. 🙂
Bravo! Bravo!! Bravo!!! So wise. So witty….And I’m so thankful.
Brian you bring sunshine into my life…and I’m thankful too…for you. 🙂
Ellen….Money is something that most of us are conflicted about. When I was growing up (yes, I’m divulging my age),it was the world of capitalists vs. hippies. The flower children represented positive change. Money was considered evil.
I think the 60s/70s reflects the conflicts we have today. Add in the spiritual mix, that if you are focused on a spiritual journey then ‘too much’ money means that you’re not serious. In fact…that’s not true at all. It’s how you use money, the values you associate with it…and how much of your emotional and physical time are spent BECAUSE you want more money (not because you love doing something that makes you alot of money).
The best book I have ever read about this subject is ‘The Soul of Money’ by Lynne Twist. I would recommend it for everybody.
Have a great weekend dear Elle. With gratitude and love-Fran
You are so right Fran. I just love your ‘take’ on the world. And I haven’t read the Lynne Twist book, but it sounds fascinating enough that next time I’m on Amazon, which will be in about…oh half a minute, give or take…I’m going to check it out. 🙂 If you recommend it, that’s good enough for me.
Elle, you nailed the basics of prosperity thinking and the video is a great cleansing tool to get rid of all the nonsense we have been programed with in regards to money.
Money is a tool, you don’t love the tool, you love what it can make which is safety, security, peace of mind, joy, adventure, comfort, a life of freedom and choice and the ability to really make in impact on the world with your philantropy and service to humanity. Money is a Divine Idea!
Nice take on money Dore’. Love that line “money is a Divine Idea’ ~ beautifully said. 🙂
