The Real Cause of Life

The real cause of your life is you!

It’s you in your life.

It’s me in my life.

It’s all of us in all our lives.

It’s us and our minds.

Us and our consciousness.

And before you jump in and tell me to hold my horses. There’s no way you could be the cause of your life, because no one in their right mind would choose some of the things you’ve experienced.

Let me say, I get it.

I said precisely the same thing about me and my life, when, after years of study, I became aware of consciousness operating as a partner in the creation of my reality.

We tend to live in the belief that life happens to us. I know I did. But that’s because no-one ever told me  or taught me about consciousness at work in my  life.

But it is a remarkable and unique design of the nature of life that our desires or goals must be attracted from within rather than pursued from without.

And right now I’m talking about our conscious mind only. This is because the way we use it is critical to manifesting the life experiences we’d like to have.

Our conscious mind – the mind with which we organize our ideas, the mind where we can choose the thoughts to think, the mind that allows us to discriminate and determine our focus – is the realm of cause in our life.

I know this isn’t what most of us were ever taught. I know I definitely wasn’t.

But….

We live in a vibrant energy system

I’m not trying to say that you and I are responsible for, or even have the inner power to prevent or stop hurricanes, or end famine or wars.

I am saying that we are part of a living, ever open universe. A dynamic universe where our minds play a decisive role in constructing the reality we personally experience.

As you can imagine, it was a real eye opener for me when, after years of study and practice and experimentation, the penny finally dropped.

Within each of us is one power that we do have, and that is the inner power to change our personal life experiences.

And oh happy days, I learned that deliberately and purposefully working with consciousness doesn’t need to be incredibly complicated, it just needs an understanding that this inner realm is responsible for the life we experience.

If you think of our world as a living vibrant energy system of which you are a part, it might not appear to be such a strange idea.

The way to a happier life

There’s a simple route for those who’d like a happier, more successful, fulfilling  life. And that’s probably all of us!

The way is pretty simple; start noticing your thoughts and feelings and become discriminating about what you’ll accept as a truth in your life.

If you want to receive the rewards that a greater and more wonderful future hold for you, then you must exercise the gift given to us as members of the human race. Our ability to choose what thoughts and feeling you will accept or reject.

Anything that doesn’t serve you is at best noise. Block it out.

Remember:

Ships don’t sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them. Don’t let what’s happening around you get inside you and weigh you down. – Unknown

I know it’s definitely a different way of operating in the world. And I know that when we switch things up, it can seem challenging and complicated, which in turn makes it feel hard. But it really isn’t.

One small discipline

One small discipline practiced every day can lead to great accomplishments and experiences.

So if you genuinely desire your life to be different, practice this one small discipline and as you begin to see life changing results, you might be spurred on to continue, as I most definitely was.

This can be one of the major keys to transforming your life from where you are now to where you’d much rather be.

This is where your conscious mind becomes your true friend.

Because whether we deliberately operate our conscious mind or not, it operates anyway. Mostly serving up the things we react to negatively.

This isn’t the way to a happier life.

But a desire for it to be different and an intention to make it so helps us to create a new destiny.

Decisions, destiny and happiness

Life is full of those whose decisions are destined to ruin their chances of a happier future.

Many of us often do what would be best not to and not do the very thing that makes our life a whole lot easier.

That was me, until I began to practice that one small discipline that would make my life not only a whole lot easier, but a whole lot better too.

Each day is full of personal crossroads. Where we are called upon to choose a path. And I soon came to realize that every choice I made as I came upon a crossroad was charting a path to some future destiny.

I wanted my decisions to be a way to fashion a new life, with new dreams and a new opportunity to attain the things I wanted to experience whilst becoming whatever I wished to be.

This is why I began, as I’m suggesting you do, by checking, as regularly as I could remember, what I was accepting into my world.

Deliberately using consciousness

Understanding the role our conscious mind has in manifesting our life is an important component in our ability to transform our life experience.

It’s one of the great tools with which we can begin to fashion a new life.

Your conscious mind can come up with new ideas and can accept or reject any ideas or thoughts you have.

Which is its brilliance. Especially once you begin to be a deliberate partner in what your conscious mind accepts or rejects.

Your consciousness uses the same energies that support matter, or change water into steam, or causes plants to bloom into whatever seed was planted. How amazing is that?

Weeds into gardens

Consider this Jim Rohn quote:.

“Humans are different than any other creation. When a dog starts with weeds, he winds up with weeds. And the reason is because he’s a dog. But that’s not true with human beings. Humans can turn weeds into gardens.”

Whatever you have accepted, or believe to be true is the seed your conscious mind automatically passes on to your subconscious mind.

And why does this matter? Because your subconsciousness mind has one job. One job only. To turn that seed you have planted, be it a seed of joy or misery, into its physical counterpart.

The subconscious doesn’t have the ability that your conscious thinking mind has to accept or reject, it can only respond.

Once you get the hang of it, I hope you’ll discover, as I did what an awesome system this is.

And it’s wonderfully reassuring and liberating to know that regardless of where we are or who we are or our past or present, we have this stunning ability to effect change in our life. Because the real cause of life lies in our hands.

The powerful energy of life

Think of the real cause of life as a dance of energy and as you become more conscious of this and deliberately operate the laws of consciousness you are joining the dance in a purposeful way.

Our consciousness is energy at its most powerful and finest, and we all get to use this creative energy at will. We don’t need to earn some special gift or wait from a sign from somewhere. We simply make a decision to learn more and invest a little effort in developing the use of our consciousness.

That’s it! All the rest will automatically fall into place. More or less.

I say more or less because there will be failures. But as you become more practiced in understanding the real cause of life and of using your inner power deliberately and purposefully  you will find what works best for you.

I agree with this one so much, Elle. The way to happiness is within our own minds. And like you say, small changes can make a big difference. I am a big fan of making little steps in a more positive iretion. They add p and don’t overwhelm you.

    Dear Elle –
“Weeds into Gardens” , I love it !
“Think of the real cause of life as a Dance of Energy”, fantastic stuff !
And “invest a little effort in developing the use of our consciousness” , is priceless advice !
If we make that investment of time and effort in seeing what we actually allow to enter our consciousness, I like you believe we can change our experiences to the better. I found out that I was allowing myself to waste my conscious space with things that din’t promote my greater Good. Thank you for this great article that articulates it so well !
    Your friend,
    Allen
