There’s an old Chinese proverb that says when you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other. I get it. There’s something about flowers that lift the spirits. I love snowdrops, they’re such cheeky little things, pushing their heads up through the snow as though reaching towards the longer, warmer, days of February. And you’ve got to love daffodils and tulips, the true messengers of spring. How I used to long to see them in England, after months of grey skies and bone chilling cold. Every day you’d find me outside in my wellies, checking the garden, once January was over…just in case. We now have spring flowers in the stores here in Florida and even though it still seems a little odd to have spring flowers in autumn, I’m not complaining… I’ll take any flower, any time. …
