I’ve been accused of being a Pollyanna. Not the worst thing to be guilty of. And whilst it’s true I am mostly inclined to see the joy in life, to expect good things, it wasn’t always like that. My trend was definitely towards feeling happy; after all, when you look for the bad in things, you’ll surely find it…and who wants that? However, there were times, when, in order to cope with life events I did tend to focus on the bad, on the worst that could happen, imagining it in all it’s gory details…worst case scenario ever…in the mistaken belief that it would help me to handle anything. Trust me…it didn’t work. Today I know why. There I was, using all the power of imagination, not to create the best life ever, but the worst. All the while thinking I was doing myself a favour. I became very expert…
[success]The greatest mistake you can make in life is continually fearing that you’ll make on. ~ Elbert Hubbard[/success] Today I remembered a poem by Portia Nelson, that’s really a story about life and hope and redemption and I wanted to share it: “There’s A Hole In My Sidewalk Chapter One I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost… I am helpless. It isn’t my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. Chapter Two I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend I don’t see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I am in the same place. But it isn’t my fault. It still takes a long time to get out. Chapter Three I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I…
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. – Harriet Tubman I’m a big believer in dreams. In fact the bigger and greater the dream the better. It isn’t always a helpful trait. It did miss me which was probably great for the teacher and my head. I lived to dream another day and in honour of all dreamers…big and small…here’s some great quotes. Enjoy. “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he had imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” — Henry David Thoreau “You see things; and you say,…
Chances are that every day you shower, and brush your teeth and try to do something with your hair. Oh no, wait, that’s me. You might have different bathing habits, but still, chances are you do something towards keeping that great bod of yours clean and well cared for. Even if it’s not jumping in the lake, I bet it’s a habit you never give a second thought to. You just do it, it’s a physical action you take. You have a habit of thought that leads you to act. Our habits of thought might be hard to catch in our mind, but they are ‘writ large’ all around us; in every event and circumstance we encounter, in every person we’re involved with, in every action we take. That’s the good and the bad news. It’s good because all our thoughts are out there in all their glory for…
