[success]Any idea, plan, or purpose may be placed in the mind through repetition of thought. ~ Napoleon Hill[/success] Grandma used to say life is an inside job, hen.  It wasn’t that she thought I was about to turn into a feathery fowl…hen is a Scottish expression…a general term of endearment.  Oh, and while I’m explaining things… she didn’t exactly use those words  life is an inside job…that’s just how I remember it. Typical kid,  it went in one ear and out the other.  Today, of course, I wish I’d paid more attention to her.  Today I see what a wise woman she was.  Yesteryear, not so much. Grandma was big on praise, long on love and short on criticism.  Grandma was incredible, and if only I’d been practicing what she preached not only might I be a wiser woman, but I might even be incredibly fabulous my own self. A girl…

[success]It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or demons, heaven or hell. ~ Buddha[/success] It might come as a shock. But there’s a really good reason why you do the things you do. And if you wish you could be doing something other than the same things that lead to the same results…read on. Being watchful Most days I see the same woman, walking.  Not once a day, like me, sometimes I see her four or five times.  And she’s not doing my measly two mile walk, more like six miles or more each time.  I’d lay money on it, that I haven’t seen her every time she walks, so maybe it’s even more than I know. Can you guess what’s coming next?  You know me so well…Miss Nosey Parker moved…

Today I saw a little fluffy yellow chick standing by the side of the road, waving a placard, suggesting I get my car washed…actually it was a schoolgirl wearing a fluffy chick costume…but it made me smile. Turning on the radio in my car I found it was tuned to the Grateful Dead channel…hmm I wonder who did that?  It made me smile. Putting on a scarf and gloves to go for my morning walk because it was…brrrr…wait for it, fifty one degrees…made me smile. Getting a hug from my friend Sandy whom I unexpectedly bumped into this morning…made me smile. Seeing a comment on this blog from my sister…made me smile.  Well in this case I laughed out loud, because she is so funny. Pulling into the garage and finding this parked in the spot where my Darling One parks…made me smile.  He’s another funny one. Taking a look…

My conversations with my grandma would sometimes take a funny turn: “Where are you going?” “What do you mean?” “Where are you going?” “I’m not going anywhere, I’m sitting right here.” “I mean where are you going in your head.” “Nowhere.” “Aah, that’s the problem.  If you wandered around in the world never knowing where you’re going, you’d never get anywhere.  And if you wander around in your head never knowing where you’re going you won’t get anywhere either.” I wasn’t always sure what my grandma was talking about.  But as I got older and a little bit wiser, I began to get it. If we don’t have an aim from which to think each and every day, our mind just wanders along its old, usual tracks, bringing old, usual experiences.  Unless and until we direct our thoughts into areas that are positive and productive then they just run around…
