You know which word can be extremely liberating and also extremely terrifying at the same time? Choice. It’s funny how our reaction to such a short, one-syllable world can either open up our world or close it off completely. Our choices determine every single part of our life. And that can be both scary and amazing. Scary because, if you’re at all like me, you’ve chosen to spend most of your life curled up inside your own comfort zone, avoiding opportunities and definitely not stretching your bravery muscle. On Saturday we went to the county fair. It was our second trip because on Tuesday, our designated fair day, we got there and it rained cats and dogs. It absolutely chucked it down and since my idea of a trip to the fair is to get some camera practice and my darling one’s idea is to eat one’s way around the place, it wasn’t working out well for either of us. We went home. So there we were on Saturday, me totally focused on what I was to do with my camera and he, not as you might suspect seeking deep fried something or other, but guiding me out of the path of rather large fair goers who were equally focused, less on the next shot, though, more on their next deep fried oreo, or snickers bar. Who knew they could deep fry everything. I need to get out…
