Updated August 2021 Sitting watching kids at play in the park I was struck by their use of imagination. Imagination is the heart of who they are…and truth be told it’s the heart of who you are…who I am. But for young children it’s a smooth easy flowing experience that’s as natural as breathing. One minute they’re pirates afloat on a stormy sea, the next super heroes, rescuing the world from it’s latest peril. They float between the worlds of imagination and reality with ease. Us grownups, not so much. Whatever happened? Wherever did all that creative imagination go? For some of us it was stifled, and ended up in a power suit and sent into the world of ‘serious business’. But mostly, at some point we simply stopped seeing ourselves as imaginative, creative beings. In a longintudal study created by NASA they found that out of 1,600 children aged…

[success]Some of us think holding on makes us strong: but sometimes it is letting go. ~ Herman Hesse[/success] You’d been together a long time.  You were comfortable with each other, you knew one another’s strengths and weaknesses.   You never thought you’d part company and then you did.  It was shockingly and suddenly over.  You’d actually moved on.  It was hard to believe, yet here you were letting go, choosing something new and it was…well okay. Until one day, those old familiar feelings re-surfaced…aargh…where in the heck did they come from?  You thought you were done with them…after all, you’d given them up, hadn’t you? Apparently not, for here they were in all their glory…having the cheek to show up, just to remind you that breaking up really is hard to do, especially when you’re breaking up with old, familiar and not very helpful negative thoughts. They say that confession…

Everything’s gone to hell in a hand-basket. Your love life has gone up in a puff of smoke…what’s that about your latest flame? Your financial affairs are in dire straights, your stress level’s at an all time high and your health and wellbeing…fuggetaboutit. Time to say ~ enough is enough, is enough, I can’t go on…woops, my bad…that’s the lyrics to a song.  But it is time, time to stop hurting, stop wounding, stop blaming, stop crying, stop screaming at the world, I want to get off. And you turn to new ways. Alice doesn’t leave here anymore You stop.  And you breathe.  And you reach deep within.  And you find your salvation.  And it’s you.  It was always you, but you were so caught up in the distractions and noises of the world that you couldn’t see, you couldn’t hear. You were seduced by the sights and sounds and senses of…

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. ~ Marcel Proust How does life look today?  Oh, and what about the world around you?  Is it looking good, great even?  Is it filled with loving caring people and great experiences, or is it a fearful place where you have to be careful, and very cautious, because who knows what’s lurking out there ready to get you?  Is your life filled with positive and productive experiences or regrets and evidence of failure?  Are you looking forward to continuing the wonderful journey you’re on, or are you more likely to want to stay in bed and hide under your covers? One of my friends is a pessimist.  He looks for the worst that could happen, he believes everybody else has what he wants and so there’s not much left for him.  His expectation is…
