Life is short. And some say life is hard. But that’s not what gets in your way. Life is the same for us all.

The biggest thing holding you back is a lack of understanding of how the game of life is played.

Emerson said ‘our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be’.

Today, let me be that someone for you.

You are already an awesome work of creation, you just haven’t recognized it yet, you haven’t acknowledged it yet. Once you do, you can begin to break through the worries, insecurities, struggles and doubt that life throws your way.

I know you want this so…

1. Are you ready to fight?

Not the bloody nose and fistycuffs at dawn kind of stuff.  More the crazy, risk taking, my life should matter for something stuff and I’m going to fight to keep my focus on making it worthwhile.

Maybe life has been full of struggles lately. It’s ok. It’s natural. It happens to us all.

Just because you haven’t done what you wanted to do yet, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. And anyway failure isn’t such a bad thing…see what I have to say here and here.

You’re in a battle for your success, for the rich, fulfilling life you deserve to have. Only you have the power to bring your dreams to life and if you’re not doing something different you’re not making any progress. Even when the turtle makes progress…maybe slow progress…first he has to stick out his neck!

2. The one choice you must make

Of all the important choices you make, one of the most important is to accept responsibility for who you are and who you’re going to be.

The best way to be fabulous in life is to treat yourself with such respect that everyone else does the same. When you value and love yourself you’re setting standards for others to follow. Pay no attention to the haters, your job isn’t to react; your job is to ignore them and don’t let them affect you.blame-game

Whoever you are, whatever you’ve done, don’t give your power to outside causes, other people or things, it’ll only make you miserable and it’s hard to be fabulous when you’re feeling down.

Stand up for yourself. Commit to accepting responsibility for all the stuff that shows up in your life.

Commit to taking control of your life.

Accept personal responsibility for it all.

Playing the blame game, and pointing fingers when something negative happens is never the solution. You have immeasurable power, hang on to it, and use it to shape and create your fabulous future.

Don’t let ignorance, unkindness, drama, guilt or any negativity stop you from recognizing the amazing creation that is you.

Make the decision to be fabulous. It’s in your hands.

Sometimes you’ll walk this path alone. Don’t be scared. Remember, personal responsibility is the hallmark of happy and successful people and even if you’ve  been knocked off your feet, seeing life with fresh eyes often leads you to a new and greater destiny.

3. How high can you jump?

Do you have an “I can’t do anything right story, what I do isn’t good enough, I never get what I want, I can’t find anyone to love, I want to do it but I’m afraid I’ll fail story!’

Whatever poor me stories resonate, look at them one at a time and allow them to evaporate and disappear like mist.

The greatest barrier for us all to overcome is the wall we’ve built ourself with our daily stories. The disempowering stories that we’re not enough.

So you’re slightly flawed, so you’re a little imperfect, so you might even be a little weird.

Great.

Embrace it.

Personally I love weird. Weird people change the world.

You’re also amazing, and creative, and breathtaking and fantastically powerful.

Don’t let your stories keep you down, or keep you imprisoned. Remind yourself your life begins to change the day you take responsibility for it.

Tell yourself you’re important, you have a purpose and your future is alive within you and nothing is going to hold you back. Pick a story that will lead to a happy ending and jump right into it with both feet.

You are the author of your life story write a chapter where you’re jumping for joy and respond to life from there.

4. The simple secret to no more struggle

Those who enjoy great success in life have decided to do so. They make it their business to think about succeeding at something.

You can do the same.

The amazing thing about your conscious self is it will only do what you say it can do.  In each moment you can neutralize the thoughts you don’t want to materialize by choosing to focus on a different and better one.

The minute you say ‘that’s too difficult for me I’ can’t do that’ your mind will assume that’s what you want and every imaginable difficulty and obstacle will show up to prove you right.

Train yourself to give better directions to your mind.

You’re going to have to decide who you’re going to be in life. No one else can make that decision for you. No one else can think the thoughts that will support your success.

I believe in you. I know you are capable of the most incredible things. But it isn’t me that makes the difference. Do YOU believe in yourself?

It isn’t always easy to begin the journey towards your dreams. It isn’t easy to change the negative thoughts you hold, but if one can do it, we all can do it. In each moment you can decide anew who you are.

A great place to start is to think about succeeding at something, anything, pick something small and before too long you’ll find yourself being motivated to pay attention to the ways you can reach for greater success.  Try it, what have you got to lose?

Over to you. Do share in the comments below the biggest insight you’re taking away from this week’s post. Or, if you overcame a struggle with life, tell us what happened and what helped you move past the challenges. How have you switched from failed to fabulous?

As always, thanks a lot for reading and I hope you enjoyed the post enough to share with others. Word of mouth really is the best; readers totally respect the views of other readers. So if you feel so inclined I’d love you to share on your favourite social networks.

Take it easy, be happy and I’ll connect with you soon.

Encourage one another.

Love Elle.

  1. What a sweet invitation, Elle! I always feel like you’re in my corner. I fully agree with the idea of take responsibility for my life, taking full control. I think I could tweak this a bit more however. There are still some unconscious patterns that sometimes get in the way. But it’s all about awareness, isn’t it!

  5. Hi Elle

I love your bubbling positivity throughout the site and particularly in this post. How incredible to wake up feeling truly fabulous, having accepted the baseline us. Then we’ll have the energy to enjoy the adventure of life and laugh lots and lots along the way. I love words and what they conjure up to each of us, and that’s the key to the picture we hold of ourselves – try swapping ‘weird’ for ‘quirky’; ‘imperfect’ for ‘individual’ and ‘flawed’ for ‘me en route to being even more fabulous’. Keep on inspiring Elle.

  6. hi elle; while reading this two things popped into my head. one was the lyrics to fruitcake by jimmy buffet. at the end he talks about how we need more fruitcakes and there are not enough of them and there are too many bakers. the other thing is how we both want to inspire people. there are many people who offer their voices to do just that. yet there are still so many people who have trouble putting the simple methods into daily practice. i hope i can continue to be a good example. thanks for sharing, max the blind blogger

    • ElleSommer

Hello Max…I’m going to have to go and check out those lyrics now! Where I come from ‘fruitcakes’ would mean slightly crazy or different…I think it’s definitely a good thing to have more people who look at life from a different perspective than most…I can learn from that! And the other point you made about it being challenging to put simple methods into daily practice can be hard…and yes it can…yet if we only chose just one, just one thing we did differently today and tomorrow and from then on, our results would be exponentially different too. It’s like compounding. And it only takes one thing. Sometimes we just try to do too much and end up not being consistent, because it’s simply too much.

That’s my two cents Max…and you, my friend are a great example for us all, putting new things into practice in your life and creating a brand new world for yourself. Kudos to you. 🙂
