If pressed, some of my friends and family might tell you I was a little…well, quirky.

They’d probably tell you this without being pressed come to think of it.

It’s not that I’m quirky to look at…well, I don’t think so…it’s not so much that I’m quirky to be around…it’s more that I’m quirky in my thinking. At least to them.

But it can work out very well.

Quirky payoffs

I was reminded of this when I woke up in the wee hours this morning with cramp in my leg.  Ouch.  Have you noticed how things really hurt in the middle of the night?

But my quirky mind, with my quirky thoughts moved into instant let’s-stop-this mode so I began to repeat to myself, my leg feels great, it feels fine, my leg is great, and before too long the cramp disappeared.

I kid you not.  It went away.  And I was back in dreamland tout suite.

You might want me to tell you how this happens, but I can’t… it just does.

Better speaking than jumping

Some would say it’s mind over matter and I wouldn’t argue with them because I don’t know and quite honestly in the early hours of the morning I don’t much care.  What I do know is that I’d much rather repeat a simple phrase to myself than have to jump out of bed, rubbing my leg like crazy, with gritted teeth because it hurts so much more when I touch it.

Truth be told, I don’t speak the words so much as think them, a little like an affirmation I suppose.

I do this kind of thing all the time…did I mention I’ve been called quirky?

Making it easy on yourself

I have a necklace my Darling One gave to me that I like to wear on a daily basis and it used to be a bear to get the clasp done up, till I began to tell myself, this is easy, this is so easy.  Now, before I even pick it up, I find myself saying, this is so easy.  Guess what, it is.

Lost but always found

Then there’s the lost and found thing.  When I have ‘mislaid’ something around the house, I don’t even bother to look for it…not to begin with.  Instead I say or rather think words to the effect, thank you for I’ve found my … whatever it is and just go about my business.

Eventually, sometimes in a few minutes, sometimes in a few hours I an idea pops into my head, sort of out of the blue, of where it might be and sure enough there it is.

Huge cosmic law or sheer luck

Forget quirky, I like to think it’s effective, whatever it is.  Some kind of huge cosmic law operating or sheer luck?  Doesn’t matter to me , but I’m erring on the side of cosmic law…all I can say is, it works and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting an easier, if perhaps quirky life.

Sometimes it takes a little longer.

I recently mislaid my glasses.  I do keep an extra pair in my bag, but these were the ones I use around the house and they went missing.  So I did ‘my thing’ and it took until the next day before I ‘discovered’ them, in a most unusual place…’nuff’ said.

What ‘quirky’ ways do you have that work our really well in your life?

Encourage one another.
