I’m pretty good at using these laws of life, I managed to manifest a blooming mess throughout my life, using them in the negative.  But hey, since I know I’m good at it, why aren’t I using them to manifest better things?

This is what my friend asked me yesterday as we had a nice cup of tea together.  He can be pretty hard on himself as so many of us can when faced with all the ‘stuff’ we don’t like about our life or ourselves.   But it’s not helpful.  How many times have you been successful in beating yourself up about something and found wonderful changes taking place?  Hmmm, just a guess…never.

We can’t fight negativity with more negativity, it’s like sitting without the light on, in the dark, making it darker still and then wondering why there’s no light.  Pushing against what we don’t like just energizes it, makes it bigger…be honest, we’ve all done it and how’s it working for us?  Not so good methinks.

Most of us have areas where we just don’t feel we’re good enough.  What’s it been for you?  Relationships, health, body, intelligence, finances?  Whatever it is whinging and complaining and feeling badly about who we are isn’t going to make it better.  In fact chances are it’ll get worse.  Ahem, maybe a little experience talking here.  Yes, yes…I’ve done my fair share of whinging and complaining, just in case you wondered.  And no, it didn’t get me where I wanted to go.

Maybe we should begin with relaxing about the whole thing and give ourselves a break and focus on what we can do to ‘manifest better things’, as my friend said.

If unconscious creation has been your modus operandi, maybe switching it up to being a little more conscious in thinking positive, productive thoughts would help.  I know, it’s not the easiest thing in the world to accept we are the makers and builders of our life…and that our thoughts and feelings really count.  It’s tough holding ourselves accountable for what we’re experiencing.  But until we do, we’re giving away all our creative power to outside events.

A great place to start is recognition – remembering, everything is possible for us and there’s power in those possibilities.

If I feel unhappy, I have the power to change it – it is possible.

We are not our feelings.  We are so much greater, so much bigger, yet we still manage to connect the two by allowing our feelings to run our lives.  And sadly, if our predominant feeling is one of unhappiness, we’re in danger of becoming an unhappiness magnet, attracting more and more things to feel unhappy about, and to make matters worse, we interpret events through our unhappiness filter, so we manage to magnify unhappiness even more.  Aren’t we just fabulous?

It’s an amazing and brilliant system, but we don’t have to be like my friend and use it against us, although we all have that choice.  We can create consciously or unconsciously, but there’s no escaping the fact that we’re right slap bang in the middle of everything that’s happening to us.

The laws of life operate pretty consistently, a bit like your computer.  You know the old saying garbage in, garbage out.  Same with us.  Focus on feeling unhappy, watch unhappy things unfold in your life.  Amazing how that blooming happens.  And we don’t have to get frustrated if we’re less than perfect…in fact if you can turn your life around on around on a dime…call me…I’ve always wanted to meet a superbeing.

Red Cape

If I’m a worrier, I can designate ‘worrying’ time, so I’m not living in a constant state of fear – it is possible.

I was the greatest worrier in the world.  Like a dog with a bone I could go over and over and over any and every challenge I’d ever had, or was ever going to have.  But once I designated my ‘half hour worry time’ the challenge quickly became hmm what do I have to worry about right now?  One day, I had this really weird feeling that something was missing, something I couldn’t quite put my finger on…and then…oh my lord…I realized I didn’t have anything to worry about in that moment.  I’m telling you that was quite a shock.  But for those worriers amongst you, test it out for yourself.  Maybe it’ll work for you too.

If my attention is mostly on what’s wrong in my life, I can change the direction of my thoughts – it is possible.

We know that we live in two separate worlds simultaneously, the inner world of imagination and thought and the outer world of events and experiences, and that the world that usually gets all the attention is the outer world of experiences.  So when things go wrong…and yes, unless you are the superbeing mentioned above, some things probably will, we’re conditioned to focus our attention on everything that’s going badly.  I’m not suggesting we don’t have to manage the events that occur, but really…knowing what we know about how life works…why in the heck would we want to direct our attention wholly onto the troubles or problems we face.

This is where the rubber meets the road, this is where we remember that as we cultivate our consciousness and direct it towards the fulfillment of our desires we are creating the means of achieving them.  So we begin to choose our thoughts and we begin to choose how we’re going to feel about our experiences.  We’re getting off the old train tracks folks, we’re heading towards a different station.

And don’t let fear or doubt hold you back.  You can live a truly dynamic life and achieve great success, as defined by you, by learning to make choosing your thoughts a habit.  Since our lives are mostly governed by habits, maybe it’s time to throw in one or two great ones.

Don’t allow yourself to be intimidated by that old I’m not good enough rubbish.  Whilst it might seem a little daunting to acknowledge and accept that your life is made by you…it always has been made by you…you just didn’t realize it.  And so what if as a conscious user of life’s laws, you get it wrong sometimes…who doesn’t.  And so what if you try something and heavens above…you fail.  And so what if you’re not quite sure you can do this yet. The very fact that you’ve read this far tells you more about your readiness than you might realize.

Every weakness you see in yourself, is only temporary, okay it might have been with you, seemingly for ever, but it doesn’t do justice to the marvelous creation that you are.  You are unique in the universe, there’s nobody else quite like you and there never will be another you again.  You have unique insights, unique talents and you have unlimited power at your fingertips.  The power to think and feel anything you like.  The power to magnetize those very thoughts and feelings and draw into your life the experiences the people and events you choose to experience.

Have at it.  Everything exists as a mere possibility until you direct your conscious towards it.

And remember to encourage one another.

Love Elle.

I really like the idea of designated worry time. While I like the idea of totally eliminating worry from my life, I’m not sure it is possible or practical. If I give myself just a few minutes here and there to worry, I can spend the rest of my time constructively working to create solutions.

    Another great post!

    Thanks,

  2. So inspirational, Elle. We have the choice to change our thoughts and be in a positive frame of mind. Thanks for sharing. Have a great rest of your week.

  3. This sums it up so well: “Everything exists as a mere possibility until you direct your conscious towards it.”

My experience is that life is as *magical* as we allow it to be 🙂

  4. Hi Elle, it always occurs to me that both of us are similar in our thoughts and feelings. I too have always been super-negative in my life and manifested a lot of negativity and sadness. But, I have now realised that there are others just like me. I have always taken your positive advise, and started thinking positively no matter what !!! Now, somehow positive things have showed up in my life. Thanks to you. Keep up the good work. There may be many others like me who are eternally grateful to you.

Hi Erna, how nice to have you join in the conversation. I love that you are having more positive things show up in your life – that’s just wonderful and the ore you keep your attention on the good things in life the more they show up – it’s a great system when you use it for our benefit. And I thank you so much for your kind words…it’s what keeps my passion alive for writing about life’s laws. Thank you for your encouragement…it’s great to encourage each other. 🙂

  5. I also appreciate the idea of “worry time.” I don’t quite relate to the imperatives to “Just stop worrying!” Maybe some day I will get there, but I can’t find the on/off switch! I love having a way to acknowledge the worry as valid, give it its own space, and then move on so that ti doesn’t have control. So refreshing.

Hi CJ welcome to the conversation, it’s always interesting to see new perspectives. I found the ‘worry time’ idea quite by accident and it worked so well I continued it, but honestly the more I did it the more difficult it was to fill in the worry time and I realized it wasn’t new worries I had, I could use the whole day worrying about the same thing from a new angle. Go figure. I like your take that we acknowledge the worry as valid give it it’s space and move on. 🙂 Great stuff.

  6. Elle-
How true everything you say is. I used to be quite the worrier~ no more. When I catch myself, I’m able to put the ‘kabash’ on it immediately. One other thing that I continue to tell myself when I begin to waver is that it’s NEVER TOO LATE to change.
As always, I love your thoughts. xxoo-Fran

Love that Fran – I’m able to put the ‘kabash’ on worrying. It’s amazing how much freedom that brings…and you are so right, we can choose different experiences any time we want. Thank you for your kind encouraging words Fran. 🙂

  7. Great to read all these positive thoughts. My take on it all is that we all live in the One Gigantic Thought Field of God, and that we are all tapping into it one way or the other, yet many of us are unaware of this phenomenon. Thus, if you project your thoughts and feelings into this Gigantic Thought Field with Love, Truth and Honesty, you will get the desired results in life that you seek.

  8. first, this line: “We can’t fight negativity with more negativity, it’s like sitting without the light on, in the dark, making it darker still and then wondering why there’s no light.”

Awww Vanita, you’re such a doll. Thank you for joining in the conversation and I’m so happy the post came at the perfect time for you. Synchronicity…consciousness…something special. 🙂

  9. Hi Elle,

When something comes to me to rock my boat and that does not match my vision, I don’t make it a big deal. I do not let it throw me overboard and I usually tell myself that it’s an anomaly, and as soon as possible, I get back to focusing on what I want. And that what makes me agree to you when you said “Everything exists as a mere possibility until you direct your conscious towards it.”

    Great post!
