The mind is the seat of the faculty of reason, the centre of all decision making. It is responsible for one’s thoughts and feelings.
The flow of emotions from the mind determines our expressions, our reactions to things, the words we speak, and generally the way we act.
Earl Nightingale put it this way: “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.”
Highly successful people know this and use it to create success and goodwill in life. At I’m hoping that by the end of this post, you’ll be able to model them.
The things we let into our subconscious forms a kind of pattern within us, which we can refer to as a habit or character. If these habits are bad, they become hard to break and if good, can be a key to living a successful life.
Highly successful people recognize the pattern of which their minds works, they understand what triggers their emotions, and so they adopt the principle of dealing first with their thoughts and feelings to change their world and ultimately to achieve great success.
Highly successful people know that emotions are diverse
Ranging from positive feelings like joy, excitement, happiness, to negative perceptions of fear, anxiety, anger, envy, jealousy.
A lot of people live their lives in emotional pain and suffering, because they’d rather allow things to control them, instead of controlling the way they react to things. Emotions are constantly changing.
At one point, you could feel like you’re on top of the world, having so much fun and feeling fulfilled and the next minute you’re down and feeling sad, probably someone gets on your nerves and you totally lost control, or you got criticized and the once joyous feelings you were having just fades away.
Highly successful people have gained mastery of their minds and emotions by doing the following:
Highly successful people are careful of the thoughts they allow into their minds
The quality of your thoughts determines the quality of your life.
Highly successful people, have been able to survive and rise to the top through different toxic environments and situations because they are careful of the thoughts they allow into their minds.
When faced with certain situations of life, you are bound to have both positive and negative thoughts, in fact, there are things (what you see and hear) around you that can easily influence your thoughts, it is up to you to evaluate the thoughts you have about each situation before taking action.
Since your actions stem from your thinking.
Those who have achieved great things, gained control of this aspect of their lives, filtering their thoughts to remain on the positive end as much as possible..
Reacting first before checking your thinking often leads to disaster, but taking the time to check your thoughts will help you move forward in the best way possible to achieve your dreams and goals.
Remember that your thoughts form the basis of your words and actions. Deal with your thoughts today, and you will be heading for great success tomorrow.

They are accountable and responsible for their actions
We live in a reactive world with so many things that trigger us to respond negatively, I believe that’s totally normal but it’s left to you to choose what it will be, a negative response, or positive perspective.
This is a choice you will always have to make, nobody chooses how you respond, and nobody makes you do whatever you do, it’s your choice, and you are always responsible for it.
According to Jeniffer Hyman, you have to “Be brave and take accountability for your thoughts and beliefs.”
Successful people take responsibility and are accountable for their words and actions, that way they have control over their minds, they do not fall prey of negative emotions and don’t have to play “the victim” or blame anyone for their actions.
Your success depends on how you choose to react and interpret the events of your life. Don’t always jump to negative conclusions when faced with life’s odds.
Next time you are triggered to respond negatively, slow down and see the situation from another perspective, by doing this, you are gaining mastery over your mind, and that sparks a transformation in your life.
They develop emotional intelligence
Highly successful people develop emotional intelligence, which enables them to switch or regulate their emotions by being conscious or mindful to ensure right thinking, thus making right decisions.
Like choosing to be calm or relaxed in the face of a storm or choosing to be happy rather than being sad.
Very often we depend on things around us, on the outside, to bring us joy, happiness, and peace, but we always get disappointed because when these things are taken away, we end up with feelings of sadness, boredom, depression and sometimes anger.
Unsuccessful people are prone to have these experiences because they keep depending on external events to bring them emotional satisfaction, but it doesn’t work that way, you’ll only end up on an emotional roller coaster unable to keep up with life.
To achieve great success, you need to build emotional intelligence to create a balance in your life, career, and relationships.
Watch your thoughts about things and your direction in life. As Lao Tzu said:
Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny
In life’s journey, you’re in the driver’s seat, and how you drive is up to you.
Successful people know that success doesn’t just happen in a vacuum, it’s a result of inner and outer effort.
