As we go through life, our experiences and the feelings about them are noted and flow through us especially through our heart energy center, a power source for living. You feel the heart’s energy all the time.
Think about what it’s like to feel love and joy. Or remember a time when creativity, enthusiasm and inspiration just poured out of you. And equally powerful…but not such fun…the times when your heart shut down.
I’ve experienced the depressed heart energy of loss. I’ve lost my mother and father, a brother, a husband and a dear friend. And this is the time we can easily get cut off from that infinite supply of love, healing and joy.
And if you’ve experienced loss of any kind, this tends to be the time when we shut down our hearts.
The very time we need to keep them open.
We need to pay close attention to the energies we operate in. They matter.
The what of heart energy
It’s something you already know about, though you might not call it this.
It’s that energy you feel when you are in a state of gratitude, or loving, or giving, or even receiving. It’s like a powerful wi-fi energy that everyone wants running at optimal energy. And you know you’re in it when life simply feels good or you are experiencing peace, or joy.
And you radiate it all the time. People pick up on it. Like when you’re feeling down, but haven’t said anything and someone close to you asks what’s the matter. You’ve been broadcasting your unhappy heart energy and they’ve picked up on it.
The Universe is in on it too
The universe does the same thing. Whatever heart energy you radiate is picked up and amplified back to you.
Life’s path is rarely smooth. Don’t resist change or challenges…as Henry Wadsworth once said, “For after all, the best thing one can do when it is raining is let it rain” but what you can do is break free from shutting down your heart energies because of angst or upset or anger or sorrow.
The big problem for us all when dealing with heart energies is that we’re untrained and undisciplined.
And who could blame us.
No-one told us, no-one taught us that it’s pretty essential that we keep this energy flowing in the way that works best for us and not allow the cares and challenges of the day to jam the nudges we get before we start taking action or reacting in anger.
We’ve never known how to keep this powerful energy flowing for the best possible outcomes in life and in fact often block it according to circumstances and sadly, this heart energy, when blocked leaves us feeling dispirited and lethargic.
Have you ever had days when this is so? I know I have.
What I discovered by accident about heart energies
One day I experienced this huge heart vibration of energy after a phone call that was significant in my life. I wasn’t sure what the energy was. It was like love, but more. It was like joy, but greater. It was almost ecstatic.
That energy level stayed with me for a couple of days and it was only later that I recognized it to be gratitude. I’d never before experienced gratitude at such a level.
I’d never really though about it, until then. Gratitude was just, well gratitude. But I learned that it actually had more than one energy level. I learned that gratitude can be a hugely powerful heart energy.
It was awesome. And really obvious when you think about it.
The gratitude you feel for someone being helpful is different from the gratitude you feel because you’re experiencing a woosh of love for another. So next time you feel gratitude pay a little attention to what the energy level is.
Test heart energies for yourself
Because life is all about energy and vibration, and the energies of the heart are vital to our happiness, wellbeing and even our health it’s vitally important that we pay attention.
We use this energy all the time..to think, to manage emotions and when we take actions. And to keep moving forward in life you must first accept energy is always at work. This gives you a starting point from which you can move in whatever direction you chose today.
Don’t waste your time denying energies exist until you test it for yourself. This truly gets you nowhere. All of life is an experiment and the more experiments you make the better chances of a better life.
Here’s a happiness test for you to play with.
That’s not all there is to how heart energies work
During my elevated gratitude experience I had learned an amazing thing…that whatever the peak energetic vibration we have so far experienced…that’s not all there is. Clearly, because this was a new level of vibration for me and the highest I’d experienced.
My heart was open more fully than ever.
The universe has much more available for you too. Don’t you just love that idea? And all that’s required is that you practice keeping your heart energies flowing. Don’t ask for permission to succeed at what you love, just follow your heart nudges. Learn as you go. And should you fail, think of it as failing forward.
If you’ve been hurt (and who hasn’t)
When we’re in that place of joy, compassion, and love, the heart is open. It feels wonderful…but it can also close. Take the loss I was talking about. My heart closed. Shut down. Just when I needed it the most.
And if you’re experiencing loss or despair don’t do what I did…this truly is a time to not do what I did, but do what I say.
I closed my heart because those experiences hurt and wounded me deeply. We close our hearts to protect ourselves from an external challenge, but often we forget to open it again.
And as I discovered for myself closing your heart doesn’t diminish the hurt, it simply cuts you off from the very energies that would help you heal.
So my darlings, pay attention to that heart energy of yours. And work on keeping it open. Or at least opening it back up pretty quickly after you’ve closed it. When life experiences hurt us, and bring us fears and worries, that’s the time to remind ourselves to keep our hearts open.
And I know it isn’t easy, believe me. But it’s a lot harder to live a fulfilling, happy life when your heart is closed, keeping your spirit blocked from the energy that will inspire, encourage and carry you through life’s adversities.
The best and most beautiful things can be yours
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen nor even touched, but just felt in the heart said Helen Keller and to allow the most beautiful things in the world to flow to you and through you requires an open heart. Your heart energies are there to propel you towards the wonderful things the universe has on offer. So your life becomes overflowing with miracles. And who would say no to that? Right?
You can do this simply by being aware of whether your heart is closed or open. You already know what this feels like. You’ve experienced an open and closed heart in your life.
And when you’ve closed your heart, because of hurt or upset…just remind yourself to open it again, these powerful heart energies are meant to be flowing through you all of the time.
When you encounter experiences that leave you feeling sad, or angry, or anxious…remind yourself to reopen your heart. Don’t let a closed heart rob you of peace or joy and everything that is beautiful in the world and one of the beautiful things you will experience when you practice the awareness of when your heart needs to reopen is that you become liberated to fully embrace and enjoy the journey of life.
This is truly the time that spiritual growth will flourish and deep peace will be yours.
Forget about pessimists and those with closed minds; live in your inner beauty and unique perspective. Once you do, and your heart energies are in full flow, critics and naysayers will cease to be relevant.
Encourage one another.

Love this so much, Elle. I’m so glad that you’ve written about heart energies. They are so important, and having lived through so much loss in the past few years, I’m afraid my heart has been rather shut down at times. I find that invoking Mother Mary and feeling her love and compassion in my heart center helps me to open my heart more. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all lived with an open heart!
So glad you enjoyed this Sandra. I know how hard life has been for you this year and my message to everyone is that if you can live with an open heart, it should be pretty easy for the rest of us.
May your 2020 be blessed with all your heart’s desires. 🙂
I could not agree more with the message of this post, Elle. Gratitude makes everything better. It helps our mental and physical health in measurable ways. I used to have a habit of focusing on loss and lack which only led to misery and depression. I like this way much better. There is always something to be grateful for.
I remember when I too would be looking for the worst case scenario so when the sky fell in, I’d have a plan. It makes me laugh at how silly that was knowing what I know today. And gratitude was a powerful factor in turning my life around in so many ways and so many times! 🙂
I love this article on heart energies. Keeping our hearts open even during tough times can be challenging depending on the situation. I’ve had times, as we all have when I experienced loss. When a person shuts down, it is more difficult to move on. This is a great reminder that the sooner we can rebalance ourselves and reopen our hearts, the sooner we will heal.
It can definitely be challenging Cathy, especially when we’re surrounded by hard times and hard decisions. And for those who can keep coming back and opening their heart, it makes the way a bit easier. At least that’s been my experience in life. 🙂
Love this Elle Heart energy is so important in all areas as we move to creating the whole you and the life of your dreams thank you xxoo
Isn’t that the truth Suzie. May all your dreams come true in 2020. 🙂
