Steve Bow said “God’s gift to us is more talent and ability than we’ll ever hope to use in our lifetime. Our gift to God is to develop as much of that talent and ability as we can in this lifetime.”
If you look around…if you pay attention you will see that every day there is on display, in one form or another, the incredible talent of humanity.
When I first came to the States one thing really stood out for me…in every town I visited, however small, wherever it was, there would be an arts festival, or a craft show. The talent was amazing. I will ‘fess up right here and now…I can’t sew…don’t knit… and am unable to draw or paint. In fact we have a five year old in the family who is truly beginning to feel sorry for my lack of ability in this department. As far as arts and crafts go I definitely am in the sad sack category.
My gifts and talents must lie in another direction…but thankfully there are plenty of artists to make up for my lack, with their abilities. This past two weeks in our small town we have had a chalk festival, a sand sculpting competition and two art shows. I’m in awe at the abundance of amazing gifts that people have and I thought it’d share a sampling.
Bear in mind that these are all crafted with chalk on the road!
This next one is my favourite.
Didn’t that blow your mind? Absolutely blooming marvellous.
Moving on…
Sand sculptures…
It’s a beautiful beach to be sure, but imagine creating this from sand…incredible.
And then there’s this…
It’s a definite wow…
And how about this?
All done with sand…absolutely beautiful. As I said I’m in awe of the gifts and talents, and I’m going to add one from the arts festival, well…just because.
Finally there’s one last piece of art I simply must share.
Okay you naysayers, let me explain. As someone who, owing to various food allergies, hasn’t had a piece of bread pudding in a month of Sundays…may I say that this was a work of art…especially since I intended to eat it…well some of it…my Darling One would take care of the rest. It was delicious and well worth the price I had to pay!
Oh joy… your name is bread pudding! And being able to produce such edible delights must surely count as gifts and talent. Yes?
