[success]Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand. ~ Bob Proctor.[/success]
Bob Proctor during his coaching sessions would say
how you do one thing is how you do everything
And on first hearing, and even second and third hearings…I thought what the heck is he talking about.
It took a while before I got it.
He was trying to tell everyone that who we’re being, how we’re handling things, how we’re thinking about stuff and most importantly what we’re feeling about it all, is going to impact everything else in our world. And he was right of course.
We can’t spend our day complaining about our job, our relationships, our finances, our world and expect to be on the receiving end of good things.
Love what you have, who you are and what you do
You’ve gotta love the one you’re with…so to speak. Love the job you have, love the thing you’re doing, the person you’re being right now. So it’s not perfect yet. It’s not your ideal job, or your ideal life. Focus on that and you bring the flow of abundance to a screeching halt.
And if you’re focused on wanting to be safe, wanting to feel secure and comfortable, wanting to be approved of, the message you’re sending, is you’re not any of these things.
Own it
If you’re not OWNING your worth…you’ll find this a huge stumbling block to moving into a state of plenty, or abundance. It cripples and stifles your gifts and talents and why on earth would you want to do that? You have them, you can use them, you deserve to use them and the rest of us in your universe would like to have them working in our world…please.
Don’t think of abundance just in terms of money, it’s so much more than financial security. Abundance is a state of mind a state of being, a state of living.
Micromanaging gets in your way
We have to let go of playing it safe, playing small, wanting to micromanage every blooming thing, wanting to control and wondering what’s going to happen…it’s getting in the way of our ability to tap into our creativity, our resourcefulness, and to top it all, those juicy gifts you’ve been given, that are uniquely yours, aren’t being shared with the rest of us.
So c’mon, play nice…do it for us.
Recognize true abundance
Since money plays a pretty large role in everyone’s life, maybe we should first look at our relationship with money. True abundance or financial freedom is when we never have to think about it. You might be more abundant than the person with a million dollars in his account, because he spends his time worrying about losing it, wanting to control how he can hang onto it and almost has a heart attack when the market drops.
We’re creating a sense of poverty when all our focus is on wanting more money.
Not that there’s anything wrong with money, I love what I can do with it. Andrew Carnegie believed he was given an abundance of money so that he could give it away. But it is, after all, only energy and like all energy, what we use it for counts. And remember the way we do anything is the way we do everything…so it’s not a good plan to be against it either. We have an abundance frequency that relates to all aspects of our life.
Transition time
To transition from where we are to where we want to be requires an abundance mentality. Whether we want to have the best romance ever or climb the highest mountain we can find.
And there abundance is…sitting all around us. We live in a totally abundant universe and just as with money, the genuinely abundant person doesn’t have to think about it. They have it. They acknowledge it and are grateful for it. It’s who they are.
So how do we get there? Three simple steps…there’s probably tons more…but these will be enough to get started and make a difference.
Step One.
Slow down and relax.
Stop looking for the next best thing. It’s only as we slow down that we can see the abundance all around us, and can tap into the abundance that already exists in each of us.
Slow everything down. Slow down your walking, your breathing, your eating, your speaking and most importantly, your thinking; give yourself a little space. Being in a state of relaxation whilst focused on abundance alters our neural pathways and over time our brain physically changes. Apparently it has become widely accepted that the brain constantly rewires itself in response to changes in our feelings, thoughts, experiences, and the way we use our body. Who knew?
Imagine how it would be if you were to visit Venice and you zoomed around at a hundred miles an hour, zipping under the Bridge of Sighs, or St. Mark’s Square…you couldn’t really appreciate what’s there. Oh you could say I’ve been to Venice, but would you have really seen it? Would you have truly experienced it?
Same with life, zipping through everything because we’re in such a hurry to get to the next best thing, chances are we’re missing the opportunity to step into abundance in all it’s glory.
Step two.
Get into abundance vibrations.
Slowing down leads to the ability to see abundance all around you. This state of recognition creates a vibration of abundance for you to live in. You’ve got time to look around and see what you have. Time to see the value, and connection to the universal divinity of it all.
Get a vision of abundance. What does it look like to you. Notice all the little things we take for granted, that we couldn’t manage without and see that behind it all is simply energy, vibrations of abundance. We need to view the world as full of riches and abundance, and truth be told, it is.
Look at the abundance of the planet, of your world, of you. You’re creative, you have the ability to act, to be enthused, to be excited or motivated. You are loving and giving and kind and caring. You have abundance in spades…but if you don’t have time to see it, then you don’t have time to feel it. And you’re missing out on your abundance frequency.
Step three.
Create abundance beliefs.
There’s a worthiness factor in being able to receive abundance…you have to let it in so you can expand the abundance vibration you’re living in now.
As we slow down, and allow ourselves to recognize the abundance all around us, we can’t help but experience gratitude. The more we focus on abundance, the more our consciousness begins to attract greater abundance. And it feels amazing.
Keep putting your energy on the vibration of how much you have and how thankful and appreciative you are. Then keep it going back to those thoughts and eventually you’ve trained your mind, you’ve made those neural pathways even bigger, so that when you bounce out of bed in the morning, your first thought is of how abundant you truly are.
There are those who keep gratitude journals…great idea…find the abundance in every hour and jot it down.
For those more techy types here’s some gratitude apps to help remind you on a daily basis.
An abundance mentality means being aware of what we have right now, from eyes that see, to flowers that bloom, to the joy we experience in the success of others.
How do you DEFINE abundance in your world? Share your brilliant insights, stories or ideas about your abundance in the comments. I’d love to hear them.

Absolutely LOVE this, Elle.
So many people ‘want’ abundance, but the amount of focus, attention, education, wisdom, and Real Understanding about it seems pretty scarce in the world.
A reflection of our collective mindset, perhaps?
Either way, pieces like this blog post are to be treasured, and I’d love to see this info reaching more people 🙂
Thanks for sharing something a bit *deeper* on understanding and embracing and living abundance!
Hello there Jason..and thank you for your lovely words…much appreciated. There’s certainly a collective mindset operating isn’t there…and we can all get caught up in it. Or should I just speak for myself! 🙂
Wonderful post Elle. So many times we fail to see that the solution lies inside of us – we end up looking to the external world to solve our problems.
Dan @ Zen Presence
Hello there Dan..great insight as usual and we love hearing your perspective…very cool. 🙂
I think there is so much more to this than we can imagine. What we think manifests. We just need to get out of the way and let the universe do its job. Thanks Elle.
Jonathan
I like that thought Jonathan…get out of the way…you’re so right…if we’d stop meddling in the middle we might be amazed at what we can experience. 🙂
Abundance definitely has to be a state of mind, Elle. That state of mind has to be positive, happy and expectant of good things, keeping that virtual mental door open to receiving. If not, abundance loses its way and diffuses. 🙂 My Mom used to say, if we expect happy outcomes, we must welcome them with a smile, just like when we want to attract people. In fact, she would apply this concept on everything, from living a healthy lifestyle to being emotionally stable, saying that half the job’s done when you smile, because a smile overpowers most other emotions. Moreover it is easier to be happy than sad.
As I read your post, I kept thinking of your abundance video. 🙂
Hugs! Vidya
Love what your Mum said Vidya. We had very wise Mums I know. 🙂
“Abundance is a state of mind a state of being, a state of living” … that’s a fair call Elle … it starts with the thought
be good to yourself

Thanks for your input David…your thoughts are always appreciated. 🙂
Love this post, Elle, especially this line – “We have to let go of playing it safe, playing small, wanting to micromanage every blooming thing, wanting to control .” Abundance is an inside job as they say. I love those apps. Will check them out – sound like they could be good. Take care. Cathy xoxo
Hope you liked the apps Cathy…I use a couple of them myself. And your thought that abundance is an inside job is just how I see it to. No surprise there! 🙂
Elle – The majority of individuals feel uncomfortable about money. It’s one of those subjects that causes a lot of mixed feelings. You hit the nail on the head ~ it’s because of our negative relationship with it. The best book I ever read on the ‘abundance of money’ was written by Lynn Twist. Thanks for a vintage ‘Elle’ post. xxoo-Fran
Thanks for the tip on the book Fran. I’ll definitely check it out. We’re a funny bunch aren’t we…as human beings, with all our little ideas and concepts and beliefs that we think of as set in stone. Yet they’re nothing more than ideas we’ve accepted or consented to as true. 🙂
So beautifully written! The best one for me is to slow down. Today I’m crawling;)
I like that idea..crawling for a day Tess. It’s the slowing of my thoughts that’s my challenge…which is why I have to meditate…daily. 🙂
Yes, I do! I want to finish my transition from not enough to plenty. I feel like I’m well on my way but need to get past this little place where I’m stuck!
Thanks for all your tips Elle!
xoxo
Betsy
I believe you’re well on your way too Betsy. Sometimes just letting go of wanting something can be enough to allow it to appear. It’s as though we’ve unclenched our fist and opened up our hand to receive. 🙂

Hi Elle,
I like it when you said – “The more we focus on abundance, the more our consciousness begins to attract greater abundance.” Abundance starts from our mind as we think of what we have and forget about what we don’t have. If we appreciate what we have right then we might realize that we are even more abundant than others. It’s all about counting our blessings! 🙂
Another great post you have here!
Thanks for your thoughts Patricia, always great to hear from you…your insights are fabulous. 🙂
