[success]The first step towards change is awareness.  The second step is acceptance. ~ Nathaniel Branden[/success]

My Darling One tells me I flit around in other worlds most of the time.  And it’s true that on our stopover on the way home from Los Angeles, he had to rescue me as I was about to wander into the men’s loo, not for the first time I should add.

What can I tell you, the little pair of pants on the door looked like a skirt to me.  Okay, I admit I might have been daydreaming a little.

Dreams as guides

I think I live in other worlds in my dreams too, since many of them are pretty bizarre.

But every now and then I have really cool dreams like the one I had where I was given a drawing of how we, as human beings grow.

It startled me, because I’d never given it much thought, but on waking I knew it to be true, we evolve in different areas of our life at differing speeds and in different ways.  Not just from each other, but within our own spheres.

So we could be more evolved in our relationship area than we are in our career area. And our life isn’t really a straight line of growth.  Rarely have we grown in all areas at the same time, although we have a general overall level of consciousness.  And the higher levels, help raise our lower ones.

Moving into new levels of courage

You may be at the level of acceptance and read a book at a higher level of consciousness and feel really inspired.

You might be at the level of neutrality overall but still feel hopeless about some things.

This is where courage comes in. When we move into the level of courage we start to see life as challenging and exciting instead of overwhelming.

We’re more and more interested in personal growth, although you might call it something else like skill-building. A vision of your future beckons you.

The lower level you, holds the rest of you back. But the higher levels elevate you.  Think about the strongest influences in your life right now. Which ones raise your consciousness? Which ones lower it?

I think the most important thing we can do is to raise our individual level of consciousness. When we do this, we are offering these higher levels of consciousness to everyone around us.

Imagine what an incredible world this would be if we could at least get everyone to just the level of acceptance.

Acceptance is about accepting responsibility for your role in the world. If something isn’t right about your life (your career, your health, your relationship or finances), you define your desired outcome and change it.  And we all know how to do that…don’t we?

Encourage one another.

Love Elle.

  1. Elle,

I love the quote, “When we move into the level of courage we start to see life as challenging and exciting instead of overwhelming.” Sometimes we face something that scares us or makes us fearful, and we just think about the “bad” things that are going to happen, instead of looking at these challenges as opportunities. It spoke to me tonight! Thanks!

    You are spot on !
It takes real courage to not just think about a better life but to move into that life, into the consciousness of that better life. It takes real courage to accept our good, to accept that YES we are worthy ! Thank you.
    Write on, Elle !

  3. Hi Elle, courage is what we need in order for us to move to a higher level to reach our goals. Courage to face the challenges of everyday life and courage to do what our heart desires. Thanks so much for sharing an encouraging post. Really great.

    • Hello Noah, you are so right. How often have we had to look fear in the face and do the thing anyway? We give fear far too much power over our lives and I think we forget how often we have been courageous and never given ourselves credit for it. Acknowledging courage even in the tiny things allows us to keep the fact that we can actually move beyond fear in the forefront of our mind. Making it easier to aim higher all the time. You made a great point. Thank you. 🙂
