I wish I could tell you that there was one super power to connect to, but it’s more like a super power bundle which makes up the one.
Let me explain.
I started this journey, which has taken decades of studying and practicing life principles, not really because I wanted to live my best life, but because I wanted to live a more aware life. Little knowing that one automatically led to the other!
It was new levels of awareness that allowed me to see the super power bundle, which when used in harmony have taken me to my current best life.
I’m basically a Nosey Parker and have always wondered what more there is to life.
From about the age of fourteen I looked around me and thought is this all there is?
It didn’t seem possible. I decided there must be much more. Though my exploration of a deeper experience of life didn’t truly start until many, many years later.
And I confess it took many more years and many failures with few successes in the early days to see even a glimmer of a best life. Though little awarenesses kept me going. It was so much damn fun.
Is life all about living a best life? No. Many of the little things in life make for a good life. A happy family, having fun, feeling love, and coming from a place where you can radiate kindness to others without even trying.
Your definition of your best life is probably entirely different from mine.
But it doesn’t matter, connecting to your super power changes you and as you change your life changes. And if we’re going to experience life changes, which we are, shouldn’t they be towards that best life as defined by us and nobody else.
So let’s take a look at ways to connect to your super power to experience your best life.
The old becomes the new
That’s what it felt like when I first read this old saying:
He that would perfect himself in any art whatsoever, let him betake himself to the reading of some sure and certain work upon his art many times over; for to read many books upon your art produces confusion rather than learning.
This quote was a radical idea to me, since I was involved in reading, studying, listening to many ideas on growth and self-improvement and believed if I didn’t do that I would miss out on a piece of information that would be invaluable to my ability to expand my awareness. Which made it a tough switch.
But I’m glad I did it.
There’s a book I’ve read more than one hundred and thirty times. That’s right. The same book every day, over and over, and only this book.
It took a whole year.
I never read the whole book at once, just a chapter a day. But I chose to read only this book for a year and it has been a huge catalyst for my growth. I became so immersed in the principles I had read about over and over that many of them are now my natural way of operating in the world.
Attention is a force to be reckoned with when it is powerfully focused as I eventually discovered.
It doesn’t have to be the reading of a book as mine was. This just seemed the right way for me. Whatever you believe will take you to your best life, make sure your attention is exclusively concentrated on one aspect of it.
I went from blindly following and trying to practice many different ideas to paying attention to those shared by one author, through which I learned that what goes on in me is what goes on outside of me.
Which way are you living?
I’ve thought about this a lot.
Experiencing your best life doesn’t happen by default. It happens on purpose. I lived my life in default mode long and often enough to know this to be a truth.
So I have to ask: Which way are you living?
Inside out or outside in?
For the most part we spend our life living from the outside in. Every experience we have in our physical world, every event, every condition gets all our attention. And the more we focus on it, the more we experience more of the same.
We live convinced that our outer world is the cause of all our problems. They did this and he/she did that and caused everything that happened to me.
We are living in survival mode instead of creation mode.
We need some time to switch off. Time to detach from outer distractions. We need quiet time to be more inner directed and less outer distracted.
It is this inner you and I who has the power of creating of manifesting a new world. Our best life. This inner capacity has the power to alter our outer world.
And while most of us try to change our outside experiences on the outside, at best it’s a temporary fix and at worst it doesn’t make anything different, let alone better.
Our inner world is the place to start. This inner you or I is where our power lies. The power that can lead us to our better world.
This is how I began to be more inner directed.
Time travel (without a time machine)
Our outer world has us firmly fixed. If we were chained to a railing, there’s no way that we could walk away.
We’d be stuck.
But in our mind…in our imagination we can go anywhere, anytime. We become unchained. We could walk…heck we could even run away if we chose to.
Anything is possible in our imagination.
We can travel backwards or forwards in time. We can relive our past or enjoy any new future we desire. And we don’t need a time machine to help us out.
We have a choice here. We can either continue reacting to our current life or start choosing a new experience beginning with the use of our mental faculties.
Isn’t it wonderfully reassuring and liberating to know that regardless of our present or past life experiences things are never set in stone?
You can mentally rehearse your days as you would like them to be. You can imagine your future. You can be the person who has the best life they can imagine.
And lastly you can literally feel that life, that person as being your reality. As the old saying goes:
You must feel it to receive it.
And receive it you can and you must if you persist. Any inner experiences, if persisted in, must and will form part of your outer life.
Don’t get me wrong, I can still become outer distracted. There’s always something isn’t there?
I’ve let old habits dominate my life until I notice the reflection of them in my outer world and think to myself, “This is a whole heap of rubbish I can live without” and get back on the new mindset wagon.
This doesn’t mean we get to ignore our current reality. Far from it. We have to manage whatever mess we find ourself in, and at the same time begin to occupy the mindset of taking time away from the outer and living, for a while, in our imagination.
“You know It don’t come easy” to connect to your super power
Remember maintaining new mindsets isn’t easy. So don’t be hard on yourself, ever. You’re always doing the best you can.
You can look at how you can structure your life in a way that gives you a chance to put these three things into operation. Even one of them at a time will make a difference:
Attention
Inner direction as opposed to continually being outer distracted
Mentally rehearsing your brilliant future
Create a loose enough plan to set you off on your new journey then begin.
Whatever it is you seek for a better life, be it a more aware level of living, experiencing greater spirituality, or more physical experiences like greater financial success, better relationships, fantastic health and vitality, don’t allow fear of change, or procrastination rob you of your desire.
Once you begin to connect to your super power by bundling these three steps you’ll have a level of awareness and confidence that can take you to what seems like your best life today on to a better life tomorrow that you have yet to dream of.
Begin looking at everything, however small, as evidence of your growing ability and even when things don’t turn out exactly as you would have liked that doesn’t mean you’re not on the pathway to experiencing your best life. Sometimes there’s just more stepping stones than you expected.
I bet you’ll still find it can be a lot of fun.
Encourage one another.

I love the part about time travel. It is true. Our brains are amazing time travel machines. And we can use this ability to help or hurt ourselves. I used it to torture myself with pain and anxiety for half of my life. It is exactly as you say. “We have a choice here. We can either continue reacting to our current life or start choosing a new experience beginning with the use of our mental faculties.” I choose to help myself now.
Hi Debbie – isn’t it brilliant that in our imagination we can go anywhere, do anything and be anything, and then have it translate into our physical reality in one form or another.
