[success]Every day, people settle for less than they deserve. They are only partially living or at best living a partial life. Every human being has the potential for greatness. ~ Bo Bennett[/success] Once a month I turn my site over to a guest Encourager and today David Stevens, Life Coach, has the floor with an insightful reminder to express yourself fully and move beyond the life you’ve settled for. I re-discovered “live” music the other night. The Brisbane Entertainment Centre was electrified at a concert I attended with my wife. Australian legend John Farnham and American legend Lionel Richie performed above expectation[and my expectation was high] and really lit up the place. It’s been a few years since I last attended a live gig. I’d forgotten how the energy feels and how much positive energy it gives me. And it also gave me further thought on how music can have…
[success]If you’re carrying strong feelings about something that happened in your past, they may hinder your ability to live in the present. ~ Les Brown[/success] The most incredible discovery I made about life is that it can be altered by a change in attitude. What you know is important, but what you feel about what you know is even more important because those feelings make up your attitude. So if it’s a change in life you desire, then it’s to feelings that you must turn. Our Encourager for the month of February, shares noteworthy steps to manage the feelings that prevent you from designing a better quality of life. A big warm welcome to the positive and insightful Zeenat Merchant Syal. A warm loving heart is a gift beyond all else. I lived my formative years, right till my twenties, in a desert (Muscat). I was never a fan of the…
It’s that time again. Time for the Encourager of the month, where you get to meet and greet brilliant beings who shine their light for the rest of us to enjoy. Today’s guest author is the lovely Sandra Pawula author and founder of Always Well Within. Thanks Elle, it’s great to be here. Ever feel like you’re chained to a stress treadmill and there’s no way off? I understand. I’ve been there! I’ve led a high stress life so I know stress can feel insurmountable. And, ironically, there’s a seed of truth in this feeling because the chronic activation of the stress response can actually decrease your ability to cope with taxing experiences and gradually impair the biochemical feedback loop that turns off the stress cycle. Even so, I want you to know it’s not hopeless at all because science has demonstrated you can change your brain. You can learn…
I still remember it vividly, even though it was years ago. I took myself to one of the usual coffee-shops, ordered a lemon tea, opened my laptop, and started writing. I was writing about myself. My strengths and my weaknesses, my achievements and my failures. I did an inventory of who I was and what I have done in my life. Eventually, there before me was the picture. I thought to myself: “So, I’m not perfect, but I have a lot of qualities and I’ve done some pretty cool stuff.” I felt some pride and a lot of relief. But still had that cloud hanging over my head. If overall, I was fairly ok then how come I often didn’t like myself? I’d had this pesky feeling on and off for a long time that I wasn’t good enough and at last I’d decided to see if there was anything behind it. And didn’t discover anything tangible. The…
[success]Live out of your imagination, not your history. ~ Steven Covey.[/success] Today is encouragement day, and let’s face it we all need a little encouragement every now and then. This month my friend Victor Schueller, otherwise known as the Professor of Positivity and Possibility is leading the way so without further ado over to you Victor: Sometimes people are amazed that in as few as five minutes of work they can turn around a relationship problem that has existed for years. Unfortunately for some, amazement is not the word used to describe their experience. Sometimes people describe it politely as a frustration over many unnecessary years spent in anguish and suffering. Does it really take only five minutes? In some cases, yes. In some cases it takes longer. It’s hard to say (and as they say in the commercials…results may vary.) But, my question in response is, “Why does it have…
