If you could choose where to live. Anywhere in the world. Where would it be? And how can you be sure it’s the place for you?
In my lifetime I’ve lived in many countries, all across the globe. Having a Dad in the Royal Air Force will do that for you.
Every couple of years we packed up all our belongings and like some nomad tribe, off we went for another adventure in another country.
As exciting as this might sound…changing schools every couple of years, needing to begin again with new friendships or something as simple as extreme changes in climate often turned out to be more of a shock to the system than the adventure we were expecting.
But truth be told I wouldn’t change those experiences for anything.
We learned a lot about other cultures and to say that travel broadens the mind is a huge understatement.
We met other souls on entirely different journeys and discovered entirely different lives being lived.
And it was awesome.
And it put life into perspective in a way only visiting other countries and participating in a different culture can.
You simply don’t come home the same person as the one who left.
Remember what Mark Twain said? “Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all of one’s lifetime.”
So if you’re up for an adventure and wondering which country would be a great fit for you, check out this fun quiz.
Honestly, the country that came up for me was one I haven’t been to and have always had a hankering to visit. Amazing!
Enjoy.
And encourage one another.

Hi Elle, I really wanted to live in a country where there is zero crime rate, where i will always feel safe with my family, just enjoying the wonderful blessings of life. I heard New Zealand has zero crime rate, haven’t been there but plans are on the way. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Hi Noah…did you take the quizz? I wonder what country showed up for you? How awesome that your plans for a new adventure are underway. Keep me posted on your experiences I’d love to hear about them.
What a wonderful reminder about how much the opportunity to travel gives us. We’re currently spending the summer in Germany and oh boy, what an incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful country we’re in. It is honestly going to be a wrench to leave. We always find the same though, the world over people rock! Everywhere we’ve been everyone is so pleased to jump in and make every day so special and so interesting. Travel is the greatest reminder that people the world over are busy being loving, working hard for their families and looking to do their best and help out whenever and wherever they can.
I took the quiz and came up with New Zealand – spot on! Love this post Elle, thank you.
Hi Laura…nice to see you again. How awesome for you to be spending time in Germany…travel really does broaden the mind and create the most wonderful memories. So it was New Zealand for you. I’d love to visit there one day…maybe we’ll just meet up!
