[success] It is the mind that maketh good or ill, that maketh wretch or happy, rich or poor. ~ Michel de Montaigne [/success]

Michel de Montaigne, wrote  – “What do I know?” way back in 1580. I think it became his motto for life.

And that’s a long blooming time ago.  So what does it have to do with us today and those golden opportunities?

You might well ask.

He thought humanity [is it possible he had you and me in mind?] was mentally unstable, definitely not very consistent, contradictory and often filled with self-doubt and uncertainty.  And ever since he wrote that, people have been paying attention to their consciousness in one way or another.

Which leads directly to the question. What goes on in your mind?

We don’t have to be totally awake and aware to find that sometimes our thoughts run round and round, hither and thither, back and forth, often registering disbelief, confusion and even muddled thinking.

But knowing that our thoughts and hence our feelings bring our experiences, even though they might be wavering and not always consistent, golden opportunities are still within our grasp.

Golden opportunities don’t lie in the actions we might take, and although some do believe our actions to be the reason things occur, they’re truly not.

Any actions we take are an effect.  The effect of our consciousness operating.  The effect caused by the spark of the divine creative power within.

At our core we’re spiritual beings endowed with the gift of creating every golden opportunity we can imagine.  But we need to say yes in order to experience them.

[success] Faith is spiritualized imagination. ~ Henry Ward Beecher [/success]

All we need do is begin at the beginning.

Let’s begin here. We recently had the need to buy a new television.

We’re not big on changing our gadgets too often…we think of them as doodads. But this time it was entirely my fault that we had to switch tellys.  The old one had images deeply burned onto the screen.  Burned in classical music channel logos showed up on everything, ‘cos I had it on all blooming day and forgot how to turn the picture off and just have sound.  It was okay with me, I didn’t mind the strange little markings appearing on people’s faces.  My Darling One, not so much.

Not that we’re the biggest tv watchers in the world, but it would seem when we do watch it, one of us needs to have a clear screen.  Really?

So here we are with new telly and my promise to make sure I play music with moving icons.

Enter smart tv with a smarthub containing everything that people as non techie as us would need to experience what we wanted via the telly.  And I now have floating images on the screen, since with our new setup I can’t simply turn the picture off and leave the sound, even if I could remember how to do it.

And this brings us smartly back to you and me and our consciousness.

Think of your consciousness and your imagination as your smarthub.  The source of everything, not quite at a click of a button, but pretty close.

Firstly we have to choose.

Even our tv isn’t taking us anywhere without a choice being made. No point in just sitting and looking at all the pretty icons, it’s not taking me anywhere.

No, we don’t begin by saying, I don’t know how [Elle, that one’s for you] and no we don’t begin by thinking, can I really do this? The beginning is simply the decision to do, or be or have whatever we desire.

Given that we’re operating a mighty power, we need to have a very definite purpose.  Being namby pamby about it just doesn’t bring the results. We need to get our greatest power working on our behalf.  Think of it as the smarthub workshop of our soul. Dispensing oh so many golden opportunities just for you.

We must have a definite aim from which to think, because if we’re not directing our thoughts, then our conscious mind will constantly react to and reinforce the outer world, leaving our personal power gathering dust.

Our power lies in our ability to choose what to think, to choose whether or not to focus on the outer reality, which actually is only a manifestation of our previous mental activity, there to tell you what you’re doing in imagination (consciousness).

As our soul, imagines itself into a situation, we take on the results of that image.

[success] The great successful men of the world have used their imagination…they think ahead and create their mental picture in all its details, filling in here, adding a little there, altering this a bit and that a bit, but steadily building-steadily building. ~ Robert Collier [/success]

Just as I can choose watch tv, play pandora, watch netflix and whatever else is on my smarthub.  It’s not taking me anywhere until I make that choice.  We have to first experience in imagination what we would experience in the event of accomplishing our goal.

We’re always at choice.  We can always assume whatever it is we desire.  We have the right to look into the mirror of our soul and see whatever we choose.  We can see the person we wish to be, the house we intend to own, the family we desire to have, the life we’ve decided to live.  But first we have to pick the reflection.

Like picking the little icon…hmm…which one shall I choose in this moment.?

And like the tv smarthub we can always go back to the board and choose another one any time we want.

If I waver a bit, will it still be mine?

Yes, it might just take a little longer.

If I contradict myself can I still reach for my golden opportunity?

Yes, it might just take a little longer.

If I’m not very consistent, and filled with self-doubt and uncertainty will I miss my golden opportunity?

Probably….or it’ll take for ever to be made manifest.

So declare your intention.  Get clear. Imagine the outcome and watch…carefully.  The seed is planted.

If you’re still not certain…just affirm that you’ve chosen the ideal situation for you and it will reveal itself.  And you know what…if it turns out to be a little less than what you wanted…it’s okay…plant another seed. Golden opportunities abound.  It’s an abundant universe with never any shortages.

Beating yourself up…definitely not allowed.

Don’t keep checking to see if it’s growing.  Simply look for coincidences, or synchronistic experiences and don’t be surprised if they turn out to be things that might have been there all along.  Things you never noticed before.

You might get an idea, a thought you’d never had before.  Pay attention.  Be open to things arriving in unusual ways.  If you suddenly have an urge to learn something new…go with it. Maybe it’s just what you need in order for your desire to be manifested.

But don’t think for a minute that any seemingly irrelevent thought that you keep on having isn’t as powerful as the ones you deliberately focus on.

We’re set on permanent create mode.

Encourage one another.

  1. I like the comparison you made here. You have to make a choice and click the button to get started. You also mention about looking for synchronicities to make sure you are on the right track. This is great advice. Whenever I start something new and find synchronicity along the way, I know I’m on the right track.

Thanks Eric. Isn’t it fun…those synchronistic moments and you say YES. Gotta love this stuff. 🙂

  2. So much was written in the early 20th century about our thoughts creating our future. How did we get so far away from that in so little time? How is it that the church leaders of that day “got it” and so many now don’t even know it and teach that wanting anything is selfish and materialistic but not spiritual? Thank goodness we have the internet and can “find” this information. I have found so many Kindle books about abundance and the law of attraction. I have lots to read 🙂 Thanks, Elle.

You’re right Debi, they’ve been writing about this stuff for centuries now and how wonderful that you have such an ‘abundance’ of reading material. I’ve noticed for myself that when I find something that resonates with me, I’ll read the same author, over and over and over. I like to be immersed in the ideas. 🙂

  3. Wonderful analogies here Elle! You are so good at taking everyday and relatable subjects and showing how they correlate to manifestation of our desires! Another winner here. Thanks! 🙂

Why thank you Victor…sometimes those little incidents just sit there begging to be used! It must be because the first thing I always say to myself is hmmm what’s in my consciousness that’s being reflected here. 🙂

  4. Elle – Your post couldn’t come at a better time. These past 2 or 3 days I have not been diligent in asking in a very focused way. I have just been busy doing. I feel much better when I take the 15 minutes a day and close my eyes, visualize, and feel what I want -even when I’m distracted. Thanks for the reminder.

Montaigne? One of my favorites from college – i still have his book packed away in a box stored at my friend’s house. He was a very wise man. As always, your words guide me back on the path. xxoo-Fran

I think we all need those little reminders Fran…my husband is a great one for reminding me when I’m off track. I know what you mean about taking those minutes. I’ve just downloaded a nice little app on my phone, that I can meditate with for 2-15 minutes. So as I go through my day, when I’m by myself, I set my timer for 50 minutes out of every hour and stop what I’m doing and take myself somewhere to sit in silence. Then of course there are times when I get off track. ‘Grin’. 🙂

  5. I completely agree. Some of the things that we go thru are necessary to get us closer to where we want to be. But we have to be accepting of it. Many a times you can miss an opportunity because you did not view it as one. You have to open your awareness to different possibilities.

Welcome Lea and great addition to the conversation. Awareness is the beginning of it all. 🙂
