[success]Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity. ~ Charles Mingus[/success]
Do you ever wonder why your life frequently sucks? Why it’s often so complicated?
Maybe you stay awake at night working out how to make things better?
Throughout my own life I find I’ve had to be willing to switch things up and de-clutter my mind, because I’m filled with old ideas, judgements and beliefs.
We can all get in our own way.
Refuse to continue with this routine. You can get by in life if you keep it up, but if you want to do more than get by…if you’re ready to open yourself to new dynamics, to a new life journey, to live a more meaningful valuable life here’s 8 ideas to start the ball rolling.
1. Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb
It’s true that the branch might break, but it might not and that’s where the juiciest fruit sit. You might never find them if you don’t take a chance.
Trust yourself. Trust those momentary flashes of inspiration, those whispers, those flashes of encouragement that hold your future success.
Remember, all the little ducks never ever sit in a row…if you wait for that, you’ll be waiting for ever.
In the end our greatest regrets are the chances not taken, the love never felt, the yes we never said. It isn’t always easy and it doesn’t always feel safe but remember the person willing to climb the tree gets the best fruit.
2. Don’t burn bridges
So they say.
But then again, maybe you should.
That’s right, sometimes the bridge behind you is too much of a pull, and holds you back from moving forward.
The only thing that keeps that bridge in your life is your constant looking back and a need to keep thinking about it. Maybe it’s time to burn it. Let it go. Do what you have to do to leave the past where it belongs.
Sometimes you have to take a stand, take a deep breath and remind yourself of who you are and where you’re going.
Who knows, burning that bridge might just make it bright enough to light the way to where you need to be.
3. Loosen up
Relax. You don’t have to know all the answers.
Everything doesn’t have to happen at once.
You’ll do better.
You’ll find the one to love. You’ll discover the best path for you.
You don’t have to have everything together all the time.
Plunge into life; the only way to fail is not to live it. Enjoy each precious moment.
Life might be a wild ride, with nothing guaranteed but you’ll figure it out.
4. Leave things better than you found them
You are the maker and builder of yourself and your life.
Everything you’ve focused on over the past few years you have become. And you’re continually building yourself and your life with each thought and each action.
The smartest thing you can do is to see yourself and act as if you were the greatest person in the world. The rewards are phenomenal. You become it.
Be the one everyone’s glad to see.
See only good for others and in them.
Having a sincere assumption of greatness for others stirs in them more confidence and self-worth and it’s the most effective way for you to experience more personal success.
Remember your sustained assumption of anything will eventually be fulfilled. Give your power to the positive aspects in life and they grow stronger; extend yourself for the benefit of others and you’ll naturally find benefits knocking on your door.
You can’t be focused on greatness, confidence and self-worth for others without becoming greater yourself. Life is a response to the being that you are.
5. Pay no attention to the naysayers
It’s much easier to stay out of things that don’t serve you well, if you’ve decided ahead of time to do it. So decide now.
Say to yourself ‘from now on I’m just going to do my thing’. I won’t be discouraged by criticism, I won’t be swayed by what others say. You’re then set up to act when the people or things you don’t want in your life show up.
You know what you’ll get from the naysayers: a headache and an energy that leads you down a negative road. Think of how much more enjoyable life is when you decide you’re no longer going to participate in that, with anyone.
Be faithful to your ideal life experience, whatever that might be.
The truth is everything that you now see in your life was first an invisible idea. And what you’re about to see might right now be equally invisible, but with persistence and focus you can turn every idea into a visible reality.
Only those willing to attempt the impossible will discover it was possible all along.
6. Don’t spread yourself too thin
It’s not your job to keep everyone happy.
You don’t have to keep up with everyone and everything you’ll just end up exhausted and living a joyless life.
If your life is filled with exhaustion, the need to fit in, scarcity, perfectionism and loss, you know you’re on the wrong track.
You can’t win over everyone so don’t trade your values, your self-worth, your authenticity for approval.
Seek to come from the genuine you; your creative, fun, intuitive, and self-loving you.
The greater value you place on those qualities in your life, the more you know you’re getting it right.
7. Don’t waste time grieving over past mistakes
Learn from them and move on.
It’s hard to learn from your mistakes while you’re busy denying them.
The truth is, we all make mistakes, even the best of us. Use them as a guide to light your way and remember like the rest of us, you’re a work in progress. A wonderful, amazingly beautiful work in progress.
Mistakes don’t make you a bad person. Stop beating yourself up and recognize the greatness which lives within you.
Keep taking the steps towards the life you envision for yourself. You have more power available to you than you realize. Let today be the day you use that power to let the past go and create your incredible future.
8. Be the best friend ever
There will be people in life who disappoint, who let you down, who don’t support, who judge too harshly. Don’t be one of them.
Be the one who lifts spirits, who sees the best, who accepts decisions, or simply accepts, who makes the biggest difference. Be the one who isn’t there only when it’s convenient.
Help others. Be willing to share your gifts. Be the one who can be counted on. Be the best friend ever and you’ll discover helping others grow is the quickest way to experience success and happiness for both of you. Some might take advantage of your kindness, that doesn’t matter as much as how you feel about yourself.
At the end of every day if you can feel good about who you are, it’s the best accomplishment you can have. Going to sleep in that energy will magnetize more things to feel good about tomorrow. It’s amazing how life works…it returns to us precisely who we are. Evolve your being.
Let me know in the comments below if any of these strategies make a difference in your life, or if you have any other tips or tools that might encourage or support the rest of us!
As always I appreciate the love and generosity of spirit you share. You most definitely rock!
Encourage one another.

#6 – Don’t spread yourself too thin – definitely resonates for me. In fact, I think you’re reading my mind today. I took stock just a few days ago realizing, “Wait a minute, this is all too much.” And, now it’s really sinking in. Thanks for affirming my experience. I ready for more simplicity!
Hi Sandra…I totally get that. There are times tho’ and I don’t know if this happens for you, but I look at everything and tell myself this is overwhelming and then I decide it really isn’t and it’s totally doable and suddenly it becomes so. I’m not certain where the tipping point is? Does this happen to you? 🙂
Great Post Elle,
I love that part where you tell us to be the best friend ever, and also to ignore the naysayers.
Here is my penny’s worth about this stupendous post that i want to share…….
1.Dedicate your mind power to your “star goals”.Star goals are your passions, dreams, and noble pursuits. Those goals which give you matchless satisfaction and fulfillment.
2.Focus On Your Dreams,Only
3Strive to reach your star goals through your star mental processes;systems and disciplines of thinking that empower you and uplift you constantly.
4.Remember the famous saying “don’t trade the big for the small”
Thanks Elle
Mona
Hi Mona…as always my friend you have stellar inspiration to share. Love it. 🙂
Wow Elle, so many of these could apply. I am prone to spreading myself pretty thin and have recently let a few things go. It feels so good not rushing from point A to point B all the time now. Still busy but manageable.
It’s really all about balance right? You want to give but you still have to take care of yourself along the way…
What you said, “At the end of every day if you can feel good about who you are, it’s the best accomplishment you can have. ” totally resonates with me. Love it! Thanks so much!
Hi Melissa…I’m really happy to hear that the post resonated so much with you. And you should feel great about who you are, you are such a healer for so many. 🙂
Pay no attention to the naysayers! I often find that the naysayers live in my mind more than anything else. I replay in my mind naysaying comments I have heard in the past, and even naysaying comments I imagine people would like to say to me. Crazy, and a waste of time and energy. Today I am going to work on dismissing the naysayers in my mind, and allowing thoughts of what I want to grow. Thank you!
Hi Annie, good for you…they’re part of the inner critic we all have. And mostly not at all helpful. Give them the boot! It might make it easier if you get a phrase to replace your naysayers continual nagging at you. Anything that’s uplifting and encouraging and feels good to you…then you’re prepared. 🙂
I like that you challenge the idea of don’t burn bridges. Sometimes you have to if the person is extremely toxic. 7 and 8 are so important. You need to forgive yourself for your mistakes. You are human so you have many flaws and that is okay : D. Learning to be your best friend is so important to because you have to spend all of your time with yourself so you better start to like yourself : D.
Love that Sebastian…you’re going to spend a lot of time with yourself, so you’d better start to like you. You always bring so much to the conversation and I’m appreciative of you. 🙂
I used to replay mistakes over and over in mind head, just thinking about what I should’ve done compared to what happened. Then I realized it didn’t suit me. I mean unless a very similar thing was going to happen again, which I was rehearsing for, it was pointless.
Now, I just try to take something positive from it and get on with life. No point in living backwards.

Hi Leah…great point you made here, replaying those mistakes truly is a dress rehearsal for continuing to create them. Good catch. Always enjoy your perspectives. 🙂
“Don’t spread yourself too thin” really jumps out at me at the moment. This is just what I need to read. I’m going in a number of different directions right now and need to begin to streamline and also eliminate what is unnecessary. I can feel how unhealthy it is overall, so great reminder!
It seems to be one that resonates with all of us Cathy. Like the streamlining idea…getting rid of the stuff that creates mental clutter most definitely frees us up to focus on enjoying our ideals. I’m a member of this club too!! 🙂
Hi Ellie
Everything you have written is so true. I love the point that we should loosen up. We are so in a hurry and desperate to know everything. We want to things to happen in a particular way and when it doesn’t happen, we become impatient.
Thanks for sharing
Hi Ikechi… isn’t that the truth. I’m truly guilt of this myself and have to curb my impulsive ways that can get me into lots of trouble!! I so appreciate your comments. 🙂
Hi Elle! Great words! Taking chances while ignoring the negative people and past mistakes enables us to be more successful. Helping and truly loving others is what brings inner peace. The two things together give a happy life which is awesome in every way!
Thanks for sharing.
