When times are tough phenomenal quotes are tougher. So during these challenging times I thought I should update this article for those days when you need a boost. Here are quotes that are guaranteed to inspire and lift your spirits.

Don’t allow obstacles and challenges to stop you, they’re not bigger than you are. And even though it isn’t always easy to overcome hurdles and obstacles and lift your spirits, within you is greatness, live accordingly.

Your dreams are waiting to be delivered, but they need you to give them life. Remember when times are hard the hero in you gets you through.

During tough times we all need a little encouragement, so here are some phenomenal quotes to lift your spirits and keep your dreams alive.

The degree of responsibility you take for your life determines how much change you can create in it.

  1. Hi Elle! What a great list of inspiring quotes –especially those from the classic writers of New Thought. You’ve included several I don’t think I’d ever heard before–thank you! I think the one that I resonate with this morning (probably cuz my current blog post is about living in the Now) is: “Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake. “~ Marie Beyon Ray In fact I like this idea so much I might have to do a list like this of my own. Thanks for the idea! ~Kathy

    • Elle

Hi Kathy, glad you enjoyed them. I especially liked the one by Marie Ray too, it’s such a reminder of how fleeting it all is and how much we should be paying attention to being glad just to be here. 🙂 Look forward to reading your list…there are so many wonderful thoughts to be shared.

  2. What an awesome list, Elle. It’s so true that the right quote can put everything into perspective in an instant. I love this one:

“Flowers do not force their way with great strife. Flowers open to perfection slowly in the sun. Don’t be in a hurry about spiritual matters. Go step by step, and be very sure.” ~ White Eagle

    • Elle

Hi Sandra…I’m not surprised you liked that one, is has such a deeply spiritual element in it – just like you. 🙂

  3. Hi Elle,

Thanks so much for compiling this set of wonderful inspiring quotes. Love them!
So simple but effective is Meister Echharts, “Be willing to be a beginner every single morning” Much love

    • Elle

Hi Caroline, and being a beginner is so important to us, otherwise we have no room to expand. 🙂

        • Elle

Hi Caroline – being open to seeing the world through new eyes allows us to always expand and grow. Gotta love that. 🙂

  4. Beautiful List Elle, Thank you for compiling them! Your articles are always so inspiring and I am very grateful for you being here and sharing your light with the world.

    • Elle

Hi Ana, thank you for your kind words. You touch me heart. 🙂

  5. Great quotes Elle, thank you. One of my favorites is “your troubles are seldom any bigger than your head allows them to become” from my Grandma. If we think about it, most of us have been blessed with wisdom from our elders we seldom appreciated at the time. Thanks for reminding me to think about this one.

    • Elle

Hi Mary, love our grandma’s quotes – they had such great words of wisdom to share with us and your grandma’s is exactly what I mean. Thanks for sharing with us. 🙂

  6. Love quotes and so enjoyed reading this list of 50, Elle. I find quotes very inspiring, especially when they come at a time we want to hear them and need the extra nudge. I have a big bank of them and think they’re a great way of self-motivation.

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world.
Today, I am wiser, I want to change myself”

“Stop worrying about what you have to lose. Start focusing on what you have to gain”

Love you, Elle. May you have a fulfilling week!

    • Elle

Hi Vidya, great quotes from your bank! There’s always a quote every day that can just put things into the right perspective, which is probably why I love them too. 🙂

  7. Wonderful quotes, Elle! They are so uplifting and positive. I love them all and will definitely keep this post, but the last one really caught my eye – “The greatest act of faith some days is to simply get up and face another day.” ~ Amy Gatliff Thank you – beautiful!

    • Elle

Hi Cathy, that last quote was such a beauty that I actually switched one I already had so I could add it. It’s a place that most everyone on the planet has experienced at some time in their life. We can all relate, but seeing it put in such a way is so affirming. 🙂

  8. Hi Elle,
I like this ” A belief is only a thought you continue to think. A belief is nothing more than a chronic pattern of thought, and you have the ability – if you try even a little bit – to begin a new pattern, to tell a new story, to achieve a different vibration, to change your point of attraction. ~ Abraham-Hicks ”
In fact this thought sums up the entie working of our lives and our solar system.
    thanks
    Mona

    • Elle

Hi Mona, exactly. That quote tells us all we need to know about operating the laws of life in a positive and creative way. Nicely put. 🙂

  9. What a fantastic list, Elle. One of my favourites comes from Albert Camus: “In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
Oh the joy of realizing that strength comes from within!

    • Elle

Hi Corinne, funnily enough I used that quote way back when I first started blogging, I think it was a post about the seasons of life. If it wasn’t – it should have been! I absolutely agree with your perspective on the strength being within…it’s a powerful thing to understand. 🙂

    • Elle

Hi Elaine, glad you enjoyed it and I so appreciate your words of encouragement. Thank you. 🙂

  10. Hi Elle,

Wonderful List of quotes, thanks for putting them together.

I especially liked this one, The only journey is the one within. ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Reading all 50 is a great vibration booster 🙂

    • Elle

Hi Vinma…great point through contemplation we gain so much. Glad you liked them. 🙂

  12. So inspiring… I really love this list you’ve compiled! Thank you, Elle!

  13. Hi Elle
When Neville tells us not to think about something negative with feeling it speaks a lot about our ability to generate our own realities. We carry our own mould in the form of thoughts, and we give shape to that mould throughour repetitive attention.Attention energises our intentions and habitual feelings.
    Thanks
    Mona

    • Elle

Feeling truly is the secret Mona…anything that leads us to feel positively positive generates all the magnetic energy we need to bring more positive experiences into our life. Isn’t that absolutely amazing? 🙂

  14. hi elle; thanks for sharing this collection of positive quotes. i love that term a possibilitarianist. and I’m wondering if you have considered adding one of these quotes to each of your blog posts from now on. It could be a fun and inspiring way to end your posts. Its just a thought. Thanks again and merry christmas my friend, max

      Hi Max – isn’t a possibilitarian a great perspective. I love that too. 🙂

  15. Great list Elle, I think I’m putting this on my bulletin board and will read one everyday just to remind myself, each day is a new day and each day starts with a clean slate. Cheers.

    • Elle

Hi Lindy and thanks for stopping by. I like your idea of reading one of these a day…it sounds like a great way to set the tone for the day. I’m on it! 🙂

    • Elle

Hi Jessica – I think, being totally honest, I need to read this list every day! 🙂

  16. I love all the quotes but my favorite is:

Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity. ~ W. Clement Stone

I’ve always had an issue with saying No but I’m getting better by the day. Thanks for sharing!

    • Hello Iyabo…I’m right there with you about the challenge of saying no. But practice makes perfect and it does get easier as you’re discovering. Sometimes we just have to say no before we can say yes. 🙂

They are great wisdom emanating from lifelong exprience and are proven right and working for a great majority. In short, they are life changing and deadly inspirational.
